  1. I think this is a pretty good idea too, but I have some questions on how we can distinguish between vendors and regulars. I might be able to create the forum so that only members of the "vendors" group can post. Vendors would then be required to request membership in the "vendors" group before being able to list items. That way if we have any complaints about a specific vendor we can remove their posting rights until things are resolved?
  2. Any explanations as to why this belongs in the wish list
  3. Well, there is the "Approx. cost" listed in the part number database. If we keep it up to date it could serve as your comparison chart. One of the things on my to-do list is build an interface for people to add/request changes to the database.
  4. That's not a bad idea. One board for the ebay postings to keep them from littering everywhere else. Consider this a poll...

    Photo Gallery

Yes. Just wait a little while longer and I'll have a user interface put together for pics to be uploaded and approved (so nobody puts pictures of their mother in her skivvies) for display.
  6. I'll put some thought into it, and put it on the back burner. We'll see if I can cook something up... (ba dump bump)
  7. The problem I see with this is determining just exactly what triggers an email to you. If for example you were watching a particular thread and ten people post to it, which of those ten postings is going to trigger an email?
  8. No, if you do that my poor moderators will get blamed and never hear the end of it
  9. Actually, it's because *my* car is red And because the image is generated from a 3D model and I no longer have the necessary software installed to regenerate the image in other colors, I haven't been able to do anything else yet. In addition, I can only have one of each type of object in the store, so if I wanted to have a mug with both red and blue cars on them, I'll have to have two separate stores. It'll take me a bit of time, but I'll probably open a store for a few different colors if there's interest.
  10. Maybe you purge your cookies periodically?
  11. Credit goes to Metric-Man for sending this to me: 1. Engine must be at operating temperature. All accessories OFF, front wheels in forward position (Minimal RPM strain from power steering pump) 2. After engine is warmed-up, turn ignition off. 3. Loosen accelerator cable so it is completely slack 4. Loosen TPS screws and rotate TPS all the way clockwise and secure screws 5. Turn ignition switch ON for more than 15 seconds then turn OFF . (This sets ISC to it specified position.) 6. Disconnect ISC motor connector 7. Start engine 8. Set idle speed with adjustment screw. (850 RPM +/- 100 RPM) 9. Stop engine 10. Connect voltmeter to top terminals on TPS connector. (See page 14 -12 of Factory manual)(= Black & (GW=Green w/White stripe) Mike C likes to pull the rubber insulator out of the top of the connector to get a good connection on the wires. I like to use T-Pins to probe in through the top of the connector then attach with alligator adapter clips to the voltmeter 11. Ignition switch ON do not start engine 12. Loosen TPS screws and slowly turn TPS counterclockwise/clockwise to set correct voltage. 13. Set voltage to 0.45 - 0.51 ( optimal=0.48 ) 14. Tighten TPS screws without changing setting achieved in step 13. 15. Snap Throttle plate ( pull up on "throttle lever" vertically and let go ) (use throttle lever not cable incase cable kinks or binds) 16. Re-check and if needed re-adjust TPS to correct voltage 17. Re-connect ISC motor connector. 18. Start engine 19. Adjust idle to (850 RPM +/- 100 RPM) 20. Shut engine off. 21. Turn ignition to the ON position for 15 seconds then turn to OFF position 22. Tighten and adjust accelerator cable - 1+ mm free play 23. Make sure ISC control switch (just) touches stopper on throttle lever (lever accelerator cable is attached to) 24. Start engine 25. Confirm Correct Curb Idle Speed
  12. And where would you suggest it gets placed on the site?
  13. That's a really good idea, and I should be able to implement it when I get finished with the code conversion, but in the present state it's really not feasible.
  14. That was addressed in this thread: members by location It'll be much easier once I get zip/post code added to the member profiles...
  15. Well, I imagined that the VIN registry would tie to the user profiles if the owner was a member, but could also just hold the name of the owner. I haven't put any effort into designing it yet, so I can't really give you a definitive answer. Are you concerned that someone can use it to find people, or are you hoping they can use it to find someone? As far as the conversion is concerned, I have completely ported over the user profiles in the exact format they have now, but I will be adding some items to the profile page like postcodes (aka zipcodes in the USA) and a few other minor details. I still have the instant messages and regular messages to convert. It may not sound like I've gotten much done yet, but you should see how many places the user profiles are sprinkled through the code...
  16. A VIN registry is planned and in the to-do list. I'll be working on it as soon as the database conversion is completed.
  17. We actually have this in the works. A section with writeups on how to do a specific task, or project. Ernie is putting in a lot of hours doing writeups, and I'll be working on a user interface to allow members to submit articles for posting approval by a moderator...
  18. Let's just say we stuck with some of the colors that were found to be most neutral in interest of getting the boards online. As for the smilies, those are standard color smilies... The reason it hasn't been changed yet is because there are 21,000 lines of code to sift through, and since I'm already sifting through 21,000 lines of code to port it to running from a database, I'll be building in functionality for having user choosable themes at the same time. Yeah, I could focus on getting a theme configured now, but it's not the number one issue that needs to remedied. If I don't get the database conversion done, the site is going to grow exponentially slower as more members join, and more posts are posted...

    True FAQ...

I actually had this same dream in mind quite some time ago, only I had some slightly different variations. First, it was supposed to be a troubleshooting aid in which I wanted to use a 3D model that could be rotated, and as you hovered over things like the hood it would pop open to reveal the engine bay. The idea was that you could drill down on the area you were trying to investigate. It's certainly possible to do something like this, but indeed it would take a bit of teamwork...
  20. For right now, we'll just have to have the moderators do it. The easiest way to notify us is to go into the thread, and click the "report to moderators" link from the very first post, and then explain that the meet is past, cancelled, whatever, and send it to us. I'm working to rewrite the site code, but its a painfully slow process.
  21. Well of course I don't know how I'm going to implement it yet! That's why I put it on the wish list For winnt/2k there are printer drivers available that can print to pdf from pretty much any program, and I've utilized one of them in an intranet app at work. There are other solutions as well, but I'll be using a *nix solution I imagine, and generating them on the fly all automagically. You don't really think I'll do every one by hand do you
  22. I had an idea for a sheet of business cards in a template to be created with your username and the club info to be put into an on-the-fly downloadable PDF, that can be printed out and given to people you run into. Thoughts? comments?
  23. Also, take a look at that little print icon at the top and bottom of the threads that looks like this http://www.starquestclub.com/images/print_full.gif. If you click on that it should pop up a more printer friendly page for you to print.
