  1. Lots of nice stuff in here. This is a project im currently working on.http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/gnwashed.png
  2. Sorry to post three red cars in a row, but this is a car that did NOT get invited to Optimas event. Im still trying to figure out how this car got passed over. ..900hp and 2,700lbs. would have been cool to see this car out there. Maybe they figured they had enough red cars with flarehttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/semamustang.pngd fenders already, Lol
  3. I didn't take this one, but for those that don't know, this is the car that won the event.http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/ousci13.jpg
  4. Yep snapped a pic of this thing too.http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/conquestsema.png
  5. Of all the cars at SEMA, I happen to take a cell phone pic of the cars Sotty and OptimaJim are talking about...http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/semafocus.pnghttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/gulffocus.jpg
  6. Jeeez. 5 pages of you guys crying about "the other guys have too much money" and "Our guy didn't score high enough". Welcome to the car hobby and especially racing events! The other guy always has more money. You guys should just be happy a Conquest was invited to the event, I know I am. For anybody on here who thinks John is the only guy staying up late nights in his garage working on his car must never visit sites like Pro-touring.com or Lateral-g.net. A lot of the Optima cars have lengthy build threads on other sites and those guys cut, grind, weld, block sand, ect. ect. on their cars for years before they show up at an event like Optima. ...Only to have the StarQuest community bash them. What a shame.
  7. Congrats! I'm jealous! I will be at SEMA and OUSCI but only as a spectator. If I catch you when your not busy I'll say what up.
  8. My Grandma gave me my first car. It was an 84' Conquest! ..."please remove ignition key"..."please remove ignition key"
  9. Shoot me the current price if I get in on this group buy please.
  10. I'm not familiar with D2 coilovers. Are these adjustable in compression/rebound or are they a fixed valve design?
  11. I don't wanna mess up Convettes thread, but my cam is a Texas Speed 228R (.588 lift) and is a great all around cam. I still gained 60hp at the wheels over a stock LS6. That's why I recommended heads/cam for Convette. He could go a little bigger on the cam (@.600 lift and 230's duration) plus a good CNC program on the heads and he would see 100+hp over what he has now. That's more than enough for the autocross or the "Speed stop challenge" at Optima, and that's 2/3 of the event. I love boost, but there is no point in boosting a stock LS1 because it will just blow up on a road course. (More specifically, it will break the ring lands on the no.7 piston).
  12. I think I can chime in on this. First and foremost, I hope you get the invite! Secondly, try not to over think all this horsepower stuff and just try to have fun and enjoy the experience! I run some track days with American Streetcar Series/Pro-touring.com and past and present OUSCI cars. I usually place respectable with a cam-only LS6 corvette. I just ran the Motorstate Challenge two weeks ago in Michigan with a lot of those guys. I would recommend sending your heads out to Advanced Inductions or Total Engine Airflow and getting a custom ground cam from any of the well know dealers or just call Comp directly. That should get you @450whp with only around $2,000 investment. That's cheap compared to any of your other options. You would be surprised how many LS7 cars I've passed with only 407whp.http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/CarsatLane.png
  13. Your first sentence you agree with me, then your last sentence you tell me I "like to play pretend". Haha
  14. It wasn't illegal for George Zimmerman to be carrying a gun by the way. That is a legal activity. ..If you want to see Zimmerman or anybody else go to jail for 30yrs you need to find them doing something ILLEGAL.
  15. So much for the guys saying these hoods cant be bought for under $500
  16. FYI- This is an original turbo block with oil squirters . Car was an un-modified 89'
  17. Im going LS swap so I don't need this stuff. It came with the car I bought and was told the machine work was all done and just needed assembled. The block is fresh with the crank already installed (probably so the machinist could check the endplay was correct). Brand new piston installed on connecting rods (rods have very light surface rust in some areas from sitting around). Brand new rings and standard rod bearings still in the packaging. I had intentions of installing everything but haven't had the time and I'd like to get everything out of my way. $150 picked up in York, pa. ..you can txt 717-858-1000 for more info.http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/engine1.jpghttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/blockonly.jpghttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z429/GNon18s/pistonsonly.jpg
  18. I've given doors and hoods away for free in the past.
  19. There seems to be much confusion on this site about how much hoods are worth. Lol. When in doubt search the "parts for sale" section to see what they have sold for in the past. I'm saying $50 for a flat hood and $500 for an 83' hood.
  20. But you never paid over $800 for a Starion hood, did you?

    83 hood

Anyone who does a search for "83 hood" in the for sale section will see several have been offered in the last 6-7 months. The prices go like this: $390, $450, $475, $500, $600, $600, and the one that was brand new in the original box was asking $800. Bigjoe, I tried the wanted ad too but I don't think that's the best way to go about it. I think the best thing is just sit back and wait until somebodys sitting at a light with no oil pressure, spins a bearing, or cracks a head and decides engine work is more important than a fake hood scoop. Honestly I think im over the whole 83 hood thing unless one falls in my lap. Conquests look cool no matter which hood you have.
