I know, I currently have an engine with a spun bearing and there isnt as much metal in this one as the spun one.

Indian I did line up the rings for the picture. And detonation seems like a very good explanation because the previous owner of the engine has fuel issues that he said resulted of a kinked fuel hose. So to repair detonation damage, rehone shuffle the pistons? I also found a little copper fragment very tiny in the oil pan, and there was metal in the oil. The metal in the oil was very small like sparkles, probably from the pistons or the cylinder wall?

Took it apart and lined up s*** to take pics I don't know what irregularity is supposed to look like http://i.imgur.com/lt8ja.jpg http://i.imgur.com/31mjS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ORDoa.jpg http://i.imgur.com/N59nw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7EBRL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/P2zPl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9cwv0.jpg

If this is the problem what would the solution be?

Can I just pull 1 piston?
-
It seems like there is more contact in that area resulting in a polished surface. Can I pull just that one piston? What else would I need to do? The compression was fine across all cylinders.
-
Its not from the rings being aligned the same way with a gap because its smoother on that strip its almost like a mirror like polish up and down. No carbon build up just more polished than the rest like more contact or wear? And the engine was rebuilt, no carbon buildup anywhere. Everything is new and clean.

It looks like its from the piston traveling up and down, should I be worried about it? http://i.imgur.com/VlJBO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/WhtKQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/copUS.jpg

Dumb Question on Jet Valve Elimination Kit...
SunStreaker replied to 83Starion-11's topic in Just plain ol' B.S.
I had a set of Jet Valve Eliminators and I had a cracked head, but my head cracked between the valves barely visible and on the #2 cylinder. It did overheat because of a blowhead gasket. The jet valves arent terrible themselves but they tend to fail, WHY because people dont maintain them or inspect them which should be done. People are not used to their upkeep so when they fail they blame them even though no maintenance was done to keep them running. Some people do it because they wanna eliminate that maintenance. -

How do I unbolt the tc?
-
I have looked through the FSM and have a few questions. I wanna pull the motor without the auto trans not to fumble with the switches and wires and stuff. Do I just need to unbolt the bellhousing and pull the engine forward a bit to clear the input shaft and then its fine to remove or is the flywheel attached to the torque converter in some way? I also have a clutch fan does the radiator need to be removed to clear the fan or just the shroud? Any tips or tricks?

Dads machine shop

Oh dont get me wrong I LOVE ROCKAUTO, they have some hard to find stuff like neutral safety switches for us auto guys and the like. But I got an item on wholesale (master cyclinder) and it failed 45 days later, because it was wholesale and past 30 days they wouldnt take it. Also the bot is spamming us for Body parts when I doubt they have many for our cars. Also some of their shipping prices are rediculous, 9.50 shipping on a 12 dollar headgasket thats almost as bad as Dad's.

LOL which car to take. I only have one option. The one with the spun bearing, and a motor on the way. Hopefully I get the motor before the weekend and swap this weekend. I should be on the road before the meet. -

If tye has 3 grand sure. But I already found and engine and it should be getting shipped round the end of the week. It's a rebuilt one too with only 1k miles on it -
Yeah but he might be willing to go lower still and I rather deal with a freight company with a good reputation than freightquote. If you google reviews for freightquote all you get is horror stories, even several times people getting extra charges because freightquote messed up upon delivery or items getting lost and freightquote stalling. Instead I have a representative to talk to, who gave me a personal quote and is willing to work with me on the price. I rather pay the same price for a company with a good rep, or even overpay a bit for peace of mind rather than worry if my package will be lost or if there will be any surprise charges.
