  1. I think he may be looking for a non rising rate regulator. Which does just as it says.. regulates. I believe I have one that came with my car, but was not installed. I will have to take a look at it tomorrow and see if it is even suitable for our purposes and not complete garbage.
  2. I was JUST about to post about that actually. It seems my initial assessment was incorrect. For some reason in my head I had it that the 12a had even height blades... which it does not, and which mine DOES. Here are some pictures. Unfortunately I do not have a mic here to measure it, so it's eating at me as to which it is and also whether the turbine is an H or the stock piece. If it was machined they did an incredible job and I cant really tell. Then again I can barely notice the compressor machining. The manifold is also stress relieved with all of the webbing removed. I havent taken the turbine housing off to see if any porting has been done there yet though. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0426.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0427.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0428.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0429.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0430.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0431.jpg
  3. Still wondering about the automatic a/c system we discussed.
  4. I need the gauge cluster lighting switches, and the stereo/shifter center console.
  5. Hey guys. I know I have gotten to talk to a few of you on the chat and posted in a few topics but I finally found time to say hello to everyone properly. I picked up my 88 tsi a few weeks ago from a fellow who had gotten it in a trade but had owned several conquests in the past. He was looking to move this car quickly and threw out a price of 600 bucks cash, and I bit. We took a spin up the block and back, and I trailered it home. It had two flat tires and is missing a few interior pieces but ran pretty well and looked like a solid start to a build. Really though I had intended to buy a car to drive during the colder months here in Florida (I am in Sarasota) as I have been riding my motorcycle solely since March. When I got the car home and started it, I realized it had a slight rod knock on start-up and I came to terms with the price of the car and the rebuild that would need to be done. I went to unload it off the trailer and upon trying to drive to a parking space the driveshaft FELL OUT! How it held on long enough to drive around the block, up and off the trailer I have no idea. Bad omens were beginning to form. There was no evidence of bolts anywhere, not on the ground, not in the car.. just poof. I can only guess that they were there and were stolen while the car sat on the trailer at my office overnight, or that a higher power was holding the driveline together when I test drove it. Either way a minor inconvenience. The man I bought the car from had told me all of these nice but seemingly false things about the car over the phone. "it has a bigger turbo, internals, runs real well" etc etc. Well, the turbo is stock, and my optimism was low. But upon prepping the car for engine removal I found a non jet valve head, ARP head studs and new gaskets all around. Perhaps there was some truth to this? Once the engine was out and the head off I quickly realized that I do in fact have some goodies in this baby! JE pistons and ARP rods bolts as well! YAHOO. The engine is now worth twice what I paid for the car! Anyway, I do have 2 bad bearings, and what appears to be a large amount of piston to wall clearance to look into (the pistons rock in the bore) but I am going to attack it full force so I can get this car on the road and turning heads! I am already getting attached to her, and I know it will be a bad romance Ive had to go through the FSM about a dozen times getting all of the electronics working and back in place. It seems almost everything that didnt work or malfunctioned was due to something being unplugged, like the heater servomotor, the emergency release levers, the passing relay beind the glove box, all just unhooked but perfectly functional. Boy is the headlight/popup circuit on these things complex! On to the pics! As I picked it up http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0394.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0393.jpg The car has a downpipe and 2.5" straight exhaust, the valve cover and a few things removed. Otherwise it looks stock. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0413.jpg http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0418.jpg Easier than I had hoped! http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f246/FrodoGT/IMAG0422.jpg
  6. If you still have it I'll take the cruise control actuator and the bracket if you have it.
  7. Not after that spy hunter oil slick he threw down on the track

    Freebird

Bought an ac compressor tensioner off freebird and it showed up really fast and well packaged. If he has any of the parts I need you can be sure I will be buying them from him.
  9. I have used an f10x to tune a turbo mazda3 which wouldnt allow control of ignition timing.. hence this particular setup. In short, I hated that fool ecm. The controls were rudimentary and not fine enough, the boost control was senseless and it would constantly bug out and require a reload of the tune. And it was brand new. Did it work? Yes. Did it work for what it cost? God no.
  10. Trying to sift through this on my phone but do you still any complete center consoles? Not so much the armrest portion but the shifter and stereo part? Also the gauge hood headlight switch assemblies. Ignition switch assembly with key? How about a cruise control actuator setup with bracketry.
  11. Yeah no lubrication system, or cooling.. some of the guys doing v8 replicas have hand made distributors, water cooling, and pressurized oiling setups!
  12. You wouldn't want to reuse an old one anyway, they are junk once open to air.
  13. Do you have a center console in that car? And the stereo bezel as well. Also the black shroud that fits between the gauge cluster and the gauge hood.
  14. What would the price shipped on the ebay turbo look like to 34207?
  15. DAMN! I just bought one from the yard yesterday... then again, when the guy looked at my pile of parts and said "mmm $25 for everything" I guess the shipping on this would be more than I paid.
  16. I actually had to go look in the service manual to even figure out what went in that spot! None of the pictures I found online had A/C so I had no idea that was how it was routed. My car has not a single component under the hood But I am fixing that QUICKLY! Thanks for hooking me up freebird.
  17. I solved this problem by never buying a Honda with an automatic transmission. I used the s40 transmission from your 6th gen civic in my autocross car and there are less than 5 pieces that could even potentially break aside from the gearsets and synchros themselves. Much less complicated and prone to failure (read:reliable). The autos are finicky in that you cannot mistreat them, let them sit, abuse them or neglect maintenence. Ive never been in a Honda with over 100k miles that didnt have a quirk to the auto tranny, like hesitant shifts, downshifts that dont grab etc etc.
  18. Looking at the parts catalog. Although it states two part numbers for the condenser, one manual, one auto. It does show that the discharge hose leading from the compressor is the same part number regardless. On the auto it just connects to an extension hose rather than directly to the condenser. This may aid you in your search.
  19. I am in the market for all underhood components as well but I had to question whether the 5 speed parts would fit into an originally automatic chassis. I know they HAD a second condnensor, but mine is long gone.
  20. If he doesn't take them I would like to buy the gauge bezel with side switches, and if the shifter boot isnt torn beyond sealing a price for that as well.
  21. Do you have the side switches for the gauge hood? How about the center console/stereo surround?
