driving home last night, my headlights and parking lights went out. After fiddling with the fuses under the dash and pretty much replacing all of them as well as the fusible links by the battery, I still was unable to get the lights back on. I resorted to running a wire from the positive battery post to the left corner light which allowed for my headlights and parking lights to finally turn on. I was able to drive this way until i arrived home. Even now, i am still scratching my head wondering if I had overlooked anything. any help would be appreciated.

I tried cranking my quest this morning and the car made a grinding sound. at first I thought it was a weak battery/ and or connection to the terminal battery posts. but even after jump starting the car, it still made a grinding sound. the engine wouldnt turn over or even crank. Luckily I was parked on a sloping driveway and I was able to pop the clutch to start the car. So, looking under the engine bay, I can't seem to locate the starter. Where exactly is it? I see the power steering pump, the ac unit, the ac pully, the alternator, and the crank shaft.

i need the vacuum barb on the intake manifold. I was told that automatic transmission cars have them. I have had no luck at pep boys, auto zone, orieleys, home depot plumming isle, or king bolt. from the threads by other starquest members, this is a difficult part to find. here is a picture of the part. my 87 quest has not have a/c for over 10 years. In fact, when I purchased the car, the a/c wasn't working back then either. Fast forward 10 years and now I have sunk over $600 in repairing my ac. I had changed the air compressor, drier, and retrofitted the freon to 134a. The a/c works now but it doesn't run ice cold. The problem I have now is the a/c cycles off before getting to a lower temp. THe mechanic says it is a possible ac thermostat. is there anything else that was overlooked before trying to find a thermostat to fix my ac issue?
