  1. You can still get them new from Mitsu for like $20.
  2. I sure hope your wife is OK. I'll say a prayer. Take it easy Shelby and let us know if we can do anything for you.
  3. Well OK, I never said it wouldn't be a replica. Lmao, I never looked at the price of those things until now.... re-donk-ulous!
  4. Holy smokes! $149,500.00???? lmao I'd just buy an old F40 and a Countach instead
  5. There have been several other members through the years that have done this wheel polishing service with varying levels of success. I have been down this road myself. I did them for $55 a wheel many moons ago. I was very successful with it, for awhile. I did 40 - 50 sets, maybe more. People sent me wheels from all over the U.S. and everyone loved the service. Then I was hurt at my real job and had to stop. What polishing method are you using? At 4 hours per wheel and $60 per, you're not even making $15 an hour because the cost of your materials will be coming out of that. If you're doing the sandpaper method, you are going to want to stop.... Use the buffing pads and rouge method. It goes MUCH faster and you are able to get a more uniform surface. I used the harder 4" buffing pads, and attached them to an angle grinder. One problem is people aren't going to send you perfectly straight wheels every time so you should take a little time to learn how to straighten bends. Not very hard to do, You can make a little jig that conforms to the curve of the wheel, heat the bent wheels with a torch in the area of the bend, then lightly tap the heated area until it conforms to your jig. Another thing you'll contend with is the curb rash. That's pretty simple to repair as well as long as you have a good grinder. I use a 6" disc sander for that. And above all else... For your own health.... Buy a good respirator. You can and will permanently damage your lungs by breathing in that aluminum. Do it. Lung swaps are much tougher than engine swaps. If you need any tips or whatever, just PM me and I'll always do my best to help you out.
  6. Aww heck.... I was thinking that was happening THIS weekend. Good thing you posted this, I was about to go polish the '87 Shetland and start getting ready. Thanks Nick. Close call! The engine for my 88 Fiji should be back from the machine shop this coming week. If it is, I won't be able to come next weekend. I'll be too busy wrenchin. I'll see what happens and let you guys know. Thanks again for the heads up!
  7. It's good to have you here. Congrats on the purchase! I'm no mechanic either but because of the help and support I receive here, I have had no problem tearing my car apart from one end to the other and then putting it back together as good as new. Be confident and never stop trying to learn more. Welcome to the club. Post up some snapshots of your new ride!!!
  8. When I'm in a pinch and need something like that, I usually go down to the local hydraulic shop... They make lines for tractors and all kinds of stuff. I just take them the line and they either make me an all new one or re-use the harder to get fittings and just replace the line. They usually do the SS braided lines for me. This is only gonna help if there's a shop near you though.
  9. Uhh, yeah it was a bit gnarly. It really wasn't too bad unless you disturbed the corpse. I stripped the car anyway but I left the interior in there (of course). The worst part was pulling the E-brake cables because I was RIGHT there. It was strange how it smelled kind of sweet.... Weird huh? lol That was my dog's favorite car.... He'd stand downwind, sniff and lick his lips
  10. So am I the only one who has found a decomposed possum behind the back seat laying in a bed of maggot husks? http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/9601/imag0177i.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us On a completely separate note.... Anyone wanna buy some black interior pieces? CHEAP! lmao
  11. Like a year ago I ordered one from O'reilly and it was the same story. You'll just have to send that back. It is for the trucks but they show it as the same PS box as ours. This is really a blessing in disguise... Those rebuilt boxes are pricey. You can order a rebuild kit for cheap and rebuild yours in a night and spend the cash you save on something kew
  12. I bought some parts from him and they were as described, packed well, shipped fast, and priced right. Thanks again!
  13. I bought a taillight from him and it was just as described, packed well, shipped quickly, and priced right. Thanks again!
  14. Me too, and I have no idea how I even lived without one of these before... I spend half my work day watching Netflix on the thing, lmao. Sounds like you need a stereo upgrade so you can plug it in there and use the stereo as an anchor for the phone, lol.
  15. Wish I could help. All I can suggest is to just take it apart in pieces. Pull the axles, drop the pumpkin. That's how I did it. Didn't take much time and was pretty easy by myself.
  16. I think the rear calipers cost a bit more than the fronts. They're like $75 a piece. Still way better than rebuilding IMO. Good luck with it!
  17. At work we have a little Hilti gun that uses a special 22 cal. blank round to shoot a nail through the sill plate and into the concrete slab. Pretty cool. The first time I saw it I was like wt....!?! It wouldn't work for you there if you gotta run down 5" but you guys had already hit all the good points and I figured I should sully the thread with my random ramblings..... Have a good weekend and good luck with the building.
  18. I bought a set of hardpipes from this fellow and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. He shipped quickly. Packed well. All items were as pictured and described. He even threw in a couple extra couplers for me which was very cool. You couldn't ask for better. Thanks again!!
