car backfires when letting off gas
disfoolritehere2 replied to disfoolritehere2's topic in Virtual Mechanic
I hear it coming from the exhaust. When I take my foot off the gas, it will backfire a couple of times and then quickly go to the idle rpm. Another thing is that when I start from a complete stop, it will stutter all the way up until I get to 2500 rpm. thanks for all the help. Edwin -
Hi, I noticed that whenever I let off the gas pedal after getting to speed, ie 40mph at 3500rpm, the car sputters and backfire's right around 2500 rmp and as the car sputters, I see that the tach moves rapidly back to 1000 rpm (idle). Does any one have any idea what would cause this. I have an 87 conquest. Stock turbo with OVHP and BOV (Generic one from 101propose)and 3" exhaust from 101 as well. I also have an 88 ecu and a 1gMAS installed. I have just recently replaced the Fuel filter as well. I haven't done anything else to the car. Do the injectors/clips need to be repaired or replaced? Thanks, Edwin

Last week, I took my exhaust system apart to replace the gasket and once I reassembled everything and now my Turbo is acting funny. It tops out at 5 psi. I think its leaking past the waste gate flap. Is there a way to test this? I looked through the online manual and all it said was not to touch it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

87 non intercooled half shaft question
disfoolritehere2 replied to disfoolritehere2's topic in Virtual Mechanic
Will any other year shafts work for my ride? I can get a hold of some 88-89 shafts. I'm hoping you all say yes. Thanks -
Can anybody tell me if the non-intercooled CV halfshaft will work for my intercooled 87 conquest. I searched all the auto parts stores and they only have the ones w/o intercooler available. I was thinking that this shouldn't make a difference right? :confused0024: Any help would be appreciated. I also have a post in the items wanted section for used ones. I need both sides. Thanks, Ed

Please put me down for 1 set. When will these ship out? Thanks, Edwin -
How do you test a 1g mas. I just installed one in my 87 and noticed that it started to bogg a little bit. I already have an 88 ecu installed and that was working fine with the stock mas. any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Edwin
