  1. mine is a lil more rusty than i would like to repair. i planned to take it apart and treat it with some SEM rust shield but it turned out to have more rust than i thought. it even has a rust crack in the back of it. i might just have to patch it the best i can and live with it since no one seems to have anything.
  2. no bumper supports out there?
  3. i dont have any idea if they are the same.
  4. i know someone has to have something out there.
  5. there are come fuel injectors for sale on jcwhitney and i was wondering if they would work in my 86. it says it fits, but its the 2.2 liter and mpi??? Is that a different model or something? http://www.jcwhitney.com/REPLACEMENT-FUEL-...02049_10101.jcw
  6. i took apart a bumper assembly i got and the metal support is pretty much just rust. so ill probably need that and maybe a front bumper cover. shipped to 24171. The bumper support needs to be in really good condition. i would like pics if possible. thanks, ben
  7. Hey guys im looking for an a/c condenser. I know a lot of you dont even keep the a/c on these cars so i figured i could get one for next to nothing. Mine is kind of rotted. Someone shoot me a price and shipping to 24171. thanks, Ben
  8. Hey guys. I am gettin ready to rebuild my throttle body and i was wondering if yall could reccomend a place to send my injectors for cleaning. I am not even sure if they leak or not. I know when the car was running the throttle body was leaking, but that coulda been gaskets. So If yall could let me know id appreciate. Thanks, ben
  9. Hey guys i need a distibutor drive gear. the one that is on the cam timing gear that turns the gear on the distributor. i called advance and they said they couldnt get it. mine has some nice nicks in it and i would feel better if i just when ahead and replaced it with the rest of the timing gears. Let me know. Thanks, Ben
  10. i dont think im going to have the money to do the whole ecu and harness swap right now. i will have to wait and save up some money. thanks for the offers though. ben
  11. Hey guys i am thinking of pretty much changing my 86 to an 88-89 for the better fuel system. So i have been informed that i need the computer(of course), harness, maf, isc. I have been able to find the computers pretty easily, but it is the harness that i am having trouble with. I also need both sides of the connection for the plug thats inside the cabin and about a foot of the wires. Let me know what yall have. Thanks, Ben
  12. Hey i just checked online at autozone and they supposedly can get an 89 flywheel for a starion, mine is a 86 conquest i assume they are the same? For 60 bucks with a 40 dollar core charge. It says its 120 teeth. Does that sound right? Thanks, Ben
  13. still have the flywheel? how much shipped to 24171
  14. I found some act set-ups but they are all for the 240mm flywheel but i have the 225 mm flywheel. Are there set-ups for the 225 ? if not i need a 240 flywheel right now because the motor is at the machine shop and they will probably balance it later this week. so yea i need one asap. some one let me know please -ben
  15. I found the excedy clutch set up: http://www.exedyusa.com/race/Clutch_Specifications But when i went to the act site they said they didnt have any products for my car at this time. How hard and expensive would it be to swap out the harness and computer. I still want everything to work on the car like a/c and all that good stuff.
  16. I am building my 86 quest and have been trying to get some info on clutch choices and WHERE TO PURCHASE them. Reason that is in caps is because i have recieved a lot of info on clutches but no place to purchase them. I have seen all the clutches on ebay and they are pretty low priced, but do you get what you pay for? I am looking for somthing with decent holding power and long life. My car will be a daily driver, but i would like to run it hard when i want to. The motor is at the machine shop right now and it is getting bored and having forged 8:1 comp pistons put in it. I am going to order a hea from dad with 1mm os ss valves and njv. I will keep the stock cam and lifters for ease of a daily driver. So i should have a little more hp than stock. Ive heard that the 6 puck clutches are rough on your leg. I wouldnt know. My car from the looks of it just had a stock clutch and pressure plate in it. The only other manual vehicle i have driven is my 72 chevy truck with three on the tree. The clutch in that is rather stiff, but it is straight mechanical linkage. So could someone let me know my best way to go and where to purchase it with an estimated price. Thanks, Ben
  17. what is the reason for having the 90 degree fittings on some of the lines? and how come these are so much less expensive than the other ss lines like on ebay and tep? thanks, ben
  18. Kool its nice to know your not alone in Va. Dinwiddie is about 3.5 hours away from me, but i doubt ill have my car going by then. Still waiting on some parts/funds to come in. you wouldnt happen to have a red header panel without dings in it? lol. Ill let yall know how the build comes along. Ben I have been second guessing the choice of forged pistons because i know the motors are tough stock, but i may end up having a monster much later down the road and thought i may be ready for it. I have seen how a lot of you have eliminated the vaccume hoses, but i dont want to loose my a/c, vents, and stuff like that. I just dont know which i could live without.
  19. appreciate the advice. I have asked myself why the heck i bought this car because it has been a pain. With buying another car. I believe i will just keep the car ihave mainly because the damage was made out to be worse than people thought. I mean i need a hood, front bumper assembly, head light aseemblies, rf fender, header panel and grille. I know that is a lot but other than damaging those parts the only other thing the accident did was tweak the radiator support a tad on both sides, nothing in the middle. I think me keeping this car would be better because the interior in this thing is almost perfect. Black leater with no cracks or anything in it. headliner and everything is perfect. Only problem is the fabric on the mirrors on the sunvisors needs to be reglued. So i mean with that being the only inside problem i think it is worth keeping. I should have enough to get parts and professionally painted with money to spare. The 2500 is just to fix the appearance of it. I have other money set aside for the motor and trans. Like i said im just after a reliable car and i do love the starquests because of the uniqueness. They are also pretty badazz. Thanks, Ben
  20. Hey guys i dont know if this is the right forum, so if it isnt then i apologize. I bought a 1986 dodge conquest on October 31, 2008. I had to put some extra money into in because of a cracked exhaust manifold and a few leaky coolant hoses. Other than that the car was perfect. I will admit i did not know what i was getting myself into when i bought this car. I will admit i did some donts of the starquest thing because i did run it hard a few times. It held together fine though. This is also my first turbo car(im hooked) I saw it on auto trader and loved the look of it. I was looking for a car to drive back and forth to college and figured i would do it in style. This was also my first car i bought on my own. Well it seemed the more i drove it the more issues i had. It started having heating problems and now i believe it was all because of a small hole in the upper radiator hose. Anyways it is too late now because the day after Christmas it was totaled according to the insurance company. I was driving and it was a lil damp outside and somthing was acting up with the brakes (air in lines) and i had to get on them and they locked up. My front met the rear of a white taurus and tore their car to heck. They decided to keep going for some reason though. I then had to go through all the insurance junk and they ended up totaling my car out at 3000 bucks if i let them keep it. I decided to keep it for my self and take the 2500. I mean i drove it home from winston-salem, nc after the wreck (hour and half drive). So lately i have been trying my hardest to get parts for it. I also started thinkin that i would do more to it since it is off the road. This has started me to think about tweaking with the internals of the engine. I am waiting on a refund check and i was thinkin of pooring this money into my motor n such. I was just wondering if all this would be worth it. I kinda need somthing relativly reliable to drive. I have found out that if i wanted somthing really reliable i should have bought somthing else. I have thought about all the weak links to replace in the car. So i will list what all i plan on doing to it other than fixings the visuals that were harmed in the crash. For the engine i would: probably buy a non jv head from dad assembled with 1mm oversized stainless valves. Fastened with arp head studs Any ideas on a cam would be appreciated. I read that the stocker is pretty good for low end which is probably what i would want it for. Im not into the whole flying down the highway at three digit speeds. Get forged pistons from dad 8:1 compression ratio .020 i have a new oem oil pump, brass freeze plugs, arp rod studs, and timing kit I will install a bse kit Get the rods worked over polish the crank of course new bearings and such new water pump just basic replacements.c New fuel injectors Rebuild the throtle body new injector clips stress relieve the manifold that i didnt buy already relieved. I already have a 14g turbo that is pretty much new. guy i bought car from replaced it with a new not a rebuilt one, shortly before he sold to me. turbo has after market downpipe bolted to it. **after all done i will get rotating assembly balanced with front pully and flywheel and pressure plate i would take the radiator out, take to get flushed and flow tested n such i know to use distilled water and the ratio. I guess i will keep the stock intercooler just because i dont know where i would get other piping for an aftermarket one. I do want to put hardpiping in the system with a bov i want to replace the coolant hoses with silicone ones and a braided one for the turbo Also would like to replace the oil cooler lines and turbo oil line with braided ones Replacing all vacume lines will be fun also I also will need to replace my transmission because mine started acting up before the wreck with sycros and pilot bearing. I am looking into gettin a 88-89 transmission because they are supposedly stronger?? I am not sure what i should do for the flywheel. I was thinking about an aluminum one but i dont know if those are good for daily drivers. Should i just get it lightened? What clutch should I use? My goal is to have somthing very reliable that i can drive without having to worry much. However i figured if i was going to build the motor then i would rather build it for boost if i decided to up it later on. I plan to keep the boost stock just because i see it safer that way. I know i have probably left somthing out but this is pretty much the basis for my plans. I know its a lot and going to run a nice price. Especially for someone who go to college full time and works part time. I dont want you all to get the impression that i am a spoiled brat because i am only 19 but i have worked hard for the little things i have. Sorry for the really really long post. Im just looking for some guidance here. I dont want to poor all this money into it if it isnt going to be worth it. Im open for opinions just please dont talk to me like im stupid. I may not know how to do somthing or what somthing stands for (ex: BSE, balance shaft elimination), but i am very handy when it comes to this kind of stuff. Thanks, Ben On the side, i tried to separate it so it would be easier to read instead of having one massive chunk of words. I guess thats how you guys do it.
  21. Ok i was just reading this and i have a quick question. So after taking off the head and puttin one back on and you torque it you then have to retorque it later??? Im going to use arp studs so does that mean i will have to torque them all twice. once on assembly and then again after i run it some? Thanks, Ben
