  1. I played that on Armorgames.com. I love AG. There are hundreds of free games on the site to distract you for hours on end.
  2. It was a little chilly riding the bike home from work this week, 40's on the ride in low 30's on the ride home. It's supposed to be warmer next week though.
  3. Edde, they are made cheaper, and by doing so the price stays low. In the chase for low prices skilled labor is shipped overseas and we all know how much people working in retail make. That also helps to keep the prices low. Consumers demand low prices and will not buy well made products for what it costs to produce them, going back to the drywall. Houses are the perfect example. With adjustment for prices a house in 1928 cost roughly the same as it does today. Only difference is that the 1928 house is built to last 100's of years with intricate wood trims, large windows etc. Since WWII houses have been made with a focus on profit and speed. Compare a house built today with those made pre-WWII. Craftmanship and quality were available in the 40's and 50's but Americans didn't want to pay for it. That lead to a decline in the number of craftsman and the desire for builders to build quality homes.
  4. I'd be more concerned about the cheap food from China, Mexico, India, Thailand.... We want cheap food, that is what we get. Laced with chemicals, antibiotics, diseased and less than 3% of imported food is inspected, doesn't leave a warm and fuzzy inside.
  5. WOW Shelby, our milk is $1.59 a gallon. Maybe because we have more cows than you do
  6. Cool, when I first got the full frame I though, why do I need this. Then I saw the pics, I NEEDED that LOL. It also helps being over 20megapixel, although from the research I have done anything beyond 16-18 is overkill to some extent. I just wish I had more of an opportunity to photograph living subjects....
  7. WHadya get? I'm using a Nikon D200 and D700 at work. The D200 was about $2500 with the lens I got. The D700 was nearly double that. It is full frame and built in WiFi though, the thing will WiFi RAW pics right onto a server almost by itself. It's trippy.
  8. Well at least we have something with lower prices than Florida! We just went shopping today. 6 gallons of milk, 4 loaves of bread, 18 eggs for under $20. Next store 4lbs of slicing tomatoes, two green peppers, two sweet onions and three heads of Romain for $12. Yes we go through 6 gallons of milk weekly. We don't buy processed snacks for the most part, everything is made from scratch and we rarely spend more than $400 a month on groceries, it is the household stuff that kills us.
  9. Some of you should read this book. It is an easy read and there are a lot of "duh" things in it that you kind of knew but never really put together. http://books.google.com/books?id=6mIBPgAACAAJ&dq=cheap&lr= Food prices are indeed over 30% cheaper (when adjusted) than they were in the 70's. Unfortunately, fuel, housing, education and healthcare are astronomically higher. You can shop for cheaper foods, you can't shop for the other items with the same elasticity.
  10. Everything is taxed. State income tax is near 7%, state sales tax, plus county sales tax on top of that. Plus bottle deposits, separate alcohol and tobacco taxes, gas taxes of 45 cents a gallon etc.. If you can tax it it is. Plus our fees just went up 35% too. I used to pay $28 for my vehicle registration every two years, now it is over $50. Fishing licenses went up from $21 to over $30. Patterson proposed a "fat tax" that would tax sugary drinks as well as a "fit tax" that taxes healthclub memberships etc.

  12. What? You can pick up a 5ft section of cold rolled 2x4 c channel for $20, bolt it on and it will last till you come up with something better..... Yeah that's what I meant. Actually the aforementioned $20 bumper looked sweet on the3 CJ5 but I'm not sure how appealing it would be on an XJ.
  13. There are several templates that turn up in a google search (at least there were for my CJ, can't be that far off). Get the rest done and leave a stock bumper on it while you build the new one. That way you can have your DD and a rock bumper. I'm still planning on getting another XJ. Someday.
  14. Who said it had to be a StarQuest? Hell, 90% of what Fanta and I post has nothing to do with the car. Well, I'm at 99%. I just come here for the people.
  15. I posted it in the mod forum so the mystery people can see what's going on with that. Geeze, looks like I haven't checked the mod forum in a while. They discovered that bug September 21st. There are other bugs found but I'm not sayin what they are if no one else is complaining about them lol
  16. No it isn't, Mexicans can get it right. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,560383,00.html
  17. That's awesome! Except for the part where you just got NGGYU stuck in my head now. Oh, have you suffered any head trauma lately? Playing without a helmet and such, or dropped acid? That could do it too.
  18. Indy beat me to it. Indy is a killjoy, he killed the joy I would have gotten from killing everyone else's joy. Way to go Indy, prick.
  19. I have a 19gig Archos I don't use anymore. It is a portable DVR with it's own built in screen so you can use it as a portable media player. You can record off TV or put movies on from the computer. The only caveat is that in order for it to play (output) onto a larger screen you have to either record from a television broadcast or record from a DVD then run the digital copy through a program to remove the copyright protection. I stopped using the Archos when I got a smartphone with a 32gig Micro SDHC card....
  20. I know lots of people that live in FL from October-May..... Our neighbors are among them. Sorry Shelby but Florida is one place I won't return to if I can help it. I hated the weather there.
  21. I wish that were true. I make decent money, certainly can't complain about that. We live in a modest neighborhood that was built in the 1960's. Tycical houses for the time, 2000sqft and about 3/4 of an acre. Of course my property taxes are about 6k a year... If it weren't for property taxes we would move further out into the country and get some more land and a bigger house.
  22. I was in Miami for two weeks and out of the 100 or so people I met working there only 2 or three were actually from Florida.
  23. Yeah, New York is known for that. We pay county sales tax, state sales tax, state income tax, property tax, luxury tax, tobacco tax, the highest fuel tax.... I figured it out once and when all was said and done over 47% of my paycheck went to a tax of some sort.
  24. Sorry, you are correct Shelby, I was just did a quick search and got center to center distances. So at 50 miles away you expect to see something 150ft feet across? So I am sure there are many international freighters that pass within 50 miles of the Florida coast that are over 150ft long.... Even if the Earth was flat, would you expect to see them? If my math is correct (check it) 150ft at 50 miles is the equivalent of seeing something the size of .009469inches at 3 feet away. I should break out my reading glasses......
