  1. Dude, move on. I never told anyone here they did not know what they are doing and you are doing nothing more than being an a** by coming here inserting your wrong accusations when it has absolutely nothing to do with you. In the future, before trying to act all macho, make sure you have read and actually comprehended the thread you will be putting your name to. I have seen numerous post by JustPaus and he does appear to be very knowledgeable so I don't question him on that. I read over the postings again and I was a little quick to interpret his second post as a "impatient, this is what you do stupid" response. This may be because I get that feeling in reading many of his post. Right or wrong, that is just my opinion and most likely the reason I reacted the way I did. So I do apologize to JustPaus for misinterpreting him and going on the offense as I did. Now back on topic I thought my point in this thread was pretty clear but maybe I can do better by stating that not everyone has unlimited funds and has come here to suddenly drop thousands upon thousands upon thousands of dollars on these cars. Most will be doing modifications in steps over a long (probably few years) period of time. Those of you that can and are willing to drop $5k on a car just like that, God bless. However, I would be willing to bet a vast majority of the people that come here do so with the intentions of moving on up the HP ranks in small steps. A few hundred here, a couple hundred there, maybe a big $1k+ purchase there. I would be willing to bet a majority of you "experienced" people did the exact same thing. Those are the people, including myself, this thread was meant to help before some of you began pissing on it with your attitudes and unhelpful post. I choose to give this the subject of "Quest for 300hp" because I know many of us will be taking a journey to get there. Yes I understand you should make sure the car is running good to begin with (it was mentioned in my very first post). Yes I understand not every car would react the exact same. Yes I understand that at one point you will have to have an MPI to go much beyond 300HP. Yes I understand that I may buy something now during this quest that I could of skipped because there was something else that cost a whole hell of a lot more and did more further down the path (Like an MPI). Now after reading that can you guys not truly see what it is I am trying to do? Not just for myself, but for others that come here or that have even been here for a long time and just haven't started truly moding yet. So the tree splits, we have a MFI path and a TBI path. Both can get us to 300hp. 1 requires a huge upfront investment, the other requires more steps and possibly even the same amount of money but possibly over a much longer period of time. EDIT: So I don't have $2k for a MFI and don't ever plan to get one so what should I do to work towards my goal of 300HP if I stay with TBI? So I do have $2k for an MFI, what else do I need to do to get my engine ready for this and the additional HP it will bring? It appears Caliber really wants us to get some head work done and I assume he says this regardless of the fuel injection path we take. So Caliber I ask, what all would YOU recommend, about how much is it, about what is the cost, and what kind of HP gain can we expect? EDIT: MFI to MPI so yet another peanut from the peanut gallery can get his panties out of a bunch.
  2. What would be the benefits of such a setup?
  3. It's $30, get it and see for yourself. Copyrighted or not, you can share what ever you want out of the book provided you are not giving it word for word. In Mazer v. Stein, 347 U.S. 201, 217 (1954), the Supreme Court stated "Unlike a patent, a copyright gives no exclusive right to the art disclosed; protection is given only to the expression of the idea—not the idea itself." Even it if was patented, you can still share the thoughts and concepts behind the work.
  4. Just saw a diagram for this and it showed..... 1 2 3 1 - was ran to the OVCP 2 - was left open 3 - was plugged.
  5. Do a quick search for Struts here and you will find a thread that has some places you can get them. I just ordered mine the other day and received them today. Both the Front and Rears. Now I am just waiting on my assembly's from a member here so I can get this stuff installed.
  6. JustPaus, I don't think what I have stated here is really all that hard to comprehend. I fully understand I could simply pull my car into a speed shop, hand them 8 grand and then come back in a few weeks to pick up my 400+hp car. However, that is not why I am here. Nor is it what I am trying to accomplish here. So please, move on and ignore this thread unless you have something positive to contribute to the spirit of it. Thanks in advance.
  7. I was just browsing the MK1 site and saw in the Coming Soon section these 2 things: MK1-STAR-MAS-PT - MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR ADAPTER PLATE - FITS STARION - STOCK MAS BOLTS ON THIS THIS ADAPTER PLATE - ALL NECESSARY HARDWARE INCLUDED I am assuming this is the equivalent to a 1g MAS or a GM MAS. MK1-STAR-MPI-IM - MPI INTAKE MANIFOLD - FITS STARION - ALUMINUM LIGHT WEIGHT MANIFOLD WITH MK1 70mm THROTTLE BODY, MK1 HIGH-FLOW FUEL RAIL AND MK1 ADJUSTABLE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR - ALL NECESSARY HARDWARE INCLUDED Any idea on when they may become available and at what price? I only ask because there appears to be at least one other thing there that is still listed as Coming Soon but a GB is already done on it (pulley).
  8. Thanks force feed, but I think you missed my intention. I didn't mean my listing as be an all inclusive one yet. Again I am looking to have ONE thread where ALL this information is at. Not mutiple threads that you have to go searching for and read through 30 different arguments on the way to go. The thread about 300+ already posted provides little value to me or someone else the comes here looking for guidance. BTW, The info you provided is good and that is what I am looking for. However can you expand on that by indicating at what point you would recommend those things if starting from the ground up? Personally I have already had my engine rebuilt with a few mods to it (including BS removal), upgraded my turbo, the exhaust manifold and done a few other things. I am thinking beyond myself here and wanting this to benefit others here and the new people that come some day.
  9. I did see that link, but it is a pretty convoluted thread so I was hoping to get something here that was better organized and a much better stepping guide for beginners. I mentioned the 87+ because I don't know what the differences are from laters years, but it seems to be pretty significant. I was thinking this thread would end up more like a listing with order along expected cost and improvement for people. Somethings may not make a direct HP gain, but they are needed to support other things (like the ECU and a BOV). Kind of like: (these are just guesses, by no means is the below meant to be "fact") Upgrade to 88/89 ECU, about $80, 0HP improvement Upgrade to 1g or GM MAS, about $80, 0HP improvement Upgrade to high flow airfilter, $40, 2-3HP improvement Add hardpipes with a BOV, about $450, 1/2HP improvement Add variable boost controller, about $50, 3-15HP improvement Upgrade to 3" exhaust, about $750, 30HP improvement Upgrade intercooler $800, 3HP improvement Upgrade Turbo, $600, 15HP improvement Maybe 300hp was a little aggressive. I didn't realize you would have to put a $2200 fuel injection system on these to get it there. What would be a more reasonable HP target before you have to start making that drastic of a change?
  10. Assuming a good running stock 87+ quest, what modifications are needed to get it to about 300hp? Parts needed, block work, head work, manifold work, if it would be needed to get there list it. If you know provide the estimated cost, HP improvement, or what other upgrade it would be a prerequisite for. Once we get a good list here we can put it in an order, kind of like a ladder into taking your car to the extreme.
  11. I simply gave him a heads up based on other things I saw MODs post on here. I did not personally attack him, nor did I say anything that was out of line. You however began with the "Who does this guy think he is?". I posted my reasoning for that, which again is based on facts you can find on the site here and was not attacking anyone. So therefore, shut your mouth and move in. If he would take less, then he can say I will take less. Or after a while of it sitting here unspoken for he can lower the price.
  12. I have seen some amazing things in my life as well. However, I think when I am spending my hard earned money I would do it with someone that was using the proper equipment and environment that would provide a smaller chance of foriegn objects entering the paint. Paint booths were invented and used by virtually every professional painter for a reason. And I am guessing it is not because they had an extra 10 to 20 grand sitting around they didn't know what to do with.
  13. I have seen moderators post responses here to people selling things stating "OBO" is the same as an auction. I was just giving him the heads up on it in case he was not aware of it.
  14. Does he have a website? I go to the *DMPerformance.com and it appears to just be forum type stuff.
  15. I ordered mine from speedyperformanceparts.com I have a tracking number so they are on their way. I did order them from another place (one right down the street from KYB) who assured me they can get them, but I got a call the next day they couldnt. :-) 1983 - 1987 Mitsubishi Starion KYB Strut Assembly Strut Assembly Price: $81.27 Qty: 1 Part #: KY235003 1983 - 1987 Mitsubishi Starion KYB Strut Assembly Strut Assembly Price: $78.74 Qty: 1 Part #: KY235004 1987 Mitsubishi Starion KYB Strut Insert Strut Insert Price: $64.68 Qty: 2 Part #: KY365060 These prices arent exact as they matched another site I found that had them listed for less. Even though that site probably couldnt even get them. :-)
  16. I think you are addressing the wrong person here. Though I would agree with another poster or 2 and say that we could have the exact identical cars and I would be willing to bet if I made mine out of PVC and you had yours made we would see little to no difference in power to the pavement. Looks, without question: I would look like a redneck, you would have the nice looking engine bay you have now. Not that I am endorsing PVC anywhere on this or any other car. Because anyone that would do that to a car like that should be beaten and have it taken away.
  17. If you havent done the math on the injectors you are speculating on what they support. You seemed to be armed with all the information. Toss it in the forumla and let us know so we then can make an educated decision on when it is time to put larger injectors in with a control unit that will utilize them. (Seriously) Being that the 87, 88, and 89 all had the same injectors and the same MAS what changed to cause this "non fuel cut" rate to be at a higher boost? Maybe I am misinformed and they didnt have the same MAS and Injectors, but if they did something was causing the issue at a much lower PSI on the 87s compared to the newer years. Does the 88/89 ECU have a longer spray or induce a higher fuel pressure? Those will be the only other things that will effect the amount of fuel delivery if the injectors are the same.
  18. LOL, I guess my internet had a hicup.
  19. You can always get his set (I think it was him) that is selling for $1800.
  20. These pipes are for Air, what crazy chemicals are you putting into your air flow?
  21. My limit for the shipping amount was $12,080.50 so I guess I will pass. Thanks for checking though.
  22. My limit for the shipping amount was $12,080.50 so I guess I will pass. Thanks for checking though.
  23. To get the Carbon one it is $799 plus $150 shipping. To get the Fiber one it is $499 plus $150 shipping. To have one painted it would probably be around $350. Either way, you are going to spend a lot of cash to get it.
  24. Can you calculate next day fedex shipping to 63042 for me before I fully commit?
  25. The reason for one piece and limiting the bends and having a smooth inside is to prevent turbulant air.
