I used the stock lid. I redrilliled the holes, Made connector hole bigger too. The frist gen has alot bigger air flow right. B/c this one is alot bigger. So I am pretty sure. Then I took the round filter we got that goes in the stock can and put a cone filter on the end of that. So it like one massive filter. I need to juster get a big cone filter. But for now it works. I havn't done anything else to the car. I will today though.

Wow I can't wait to start tuning. It sounds like soo much fun. I can't wait. Thats freaking sweet though. I get 40+ in my saturn. But 26+ in a quest with more than 300 horse. That is just freaking sweet. I can't wait.

I have no idea what is happen. What It feels like is a spark cut. I don't think these cars have it. This is the 89 I just bought. The only thing wrong with it then was, Over head pipe wasn't on, and fuel pump was bad. Well I fix them. I did get a I believe a 1st gen maf. So I put that in there I was working great. Well today I decieded I would get rid of that hose from the maf to the trubo. I put a new one on with a smooth bore inside, I thought why not. But then I got looking with the stock air can the main air metering port, I guess if you want to call it that. Its only like a inch from the bottom of the stock air can. Thats why I got rid of the air can. Well I had a cone filter and I wasn't big enough. So I hooked the cone to the bottom of the other filter figureing, ya better air flow. Well ya it works great pull alot better off the line all the way up to about 4,500 or soo. Then it acts like spark cut or like I let off the gas. Engine doesn't miss or anything when this happens. Boost falls right off. Thats with my foot to the floor. I haven't stayed on the throttle to see if it picks back up. I know I need a tbi rebuild kit. But it never did it untill I did what I did the the air intake. I have no problem going back to stock. I was just wondering what would cause this. This is however my first 89 car. I still have a 86. But I am not used to the 89 style. I know its not much different. I do know the differance for the most part. I do have a 2.5 exhaust all the way back. boost I believe is around 11 or 12. Stock 12a does have some shaft play. I was told it had a street head and cam. I pulled the vavle cover just alittle bit and it does have a non jet valve head. I need to get the fuel gauge so I can see it but just idlein its around I think 38psi I would have to double check. Any idea's.

Ya 86's can run with out the mas. That is b/c they run then with speed denisty. You don't have that you would have to have a intake a temp senor. Do your self a favor and make sure that the timing is on and you have the right firing order and that every thing is firing right. Then you could spray carb clean and if it starts and runs then you know that is right. Just remember all you need is compression, fuel, air, and spark. But if any one is missin problem or if say if the timin is off bad too. If you get it on tdc it should start, kinda hard to use a timing light when it doesn't run.

When you did this test you had all the plugs out right? Cuz I thought you said it started when you were doing the test. Well I was allwas tought to take all the plugs out just incase you have a leak between cylinders. Just a thought not sure if someone would ok me on this that would be helpful.

I just bought a car it didn't run well, I had a fuel pressure gauge on it. I did the jumper wire to the fuel pump relay wire no pressure still. Well went back and hit the pump presto fuel pressure ran great. Well got going down the road fuel pump got hot and locked up. I would have to wait for it too cool befor I could start it again. So just a thought. Put a pressure gauge on there, or when you get it runing put a jumper wire on and look threw the throttle body to see if your injectors leak. Of course do this when the car isn't running.

Ya I used to live in IL when I was going to college soo glad I moved back to Michigan. But jobs suck here just got a job and then got laid off within a month.

Well on sunday I decieded to go on a bike ride well I was going to take the back way to cadillac to go to my dad's old place. Well I was on my way, Then took a different turn and I wound up going down 66. Well on 66 toward lake city after the john deere dealership there is a road if you take a right there are airplanes and take a left thats where all the starions where sitting there was a white a blue and a red don't remember the other one. Just wondering who that was cuz I pretty close to there my self.
