Very clean interior all power w/racing steering wheel. Comes w/set of 17" BBS rims on 215/40R17 tires in great condition. use to idle rough but now idles and then turns off. Looks like it has a brand new head" $650 http://s258.photobucket.com/albums/hh270/d...nt=DSCN0619.jpg
  5. I think you guys are right I might have a look around CL for someone. or talk to local From what i can gather I would be looking at around $2k for something fairly decent and it would go up from there. I would still consider you Burton i like what you have done to those cars. it would all depend on the car I bought.
  6. my colors would be #1 white #2 black #3 Fiji Blue or silver these would all be factory i would be happy with that just so long as it looked good.
  7. Thanks responses. I haven't exactly found a car yet but it would defo be one that has a straight body withe minor dings and scratches. no rust. it doesn't seem to be too hard to find a quest in Cali with no rust. Here's is an example of two quest I was looking at an 87 quest that was originally silver someone painted it pearl white did a bad job masking looks like an earl Scheib job paint is starting to flake off showing up the silver. in big patches. If i bought this I would be thinking of getting this painted back to the original silver. the door post are painted pearl white . engine bay and inside trunk lid are silver. Zero rust. he wants $2k 60,000 miles The other one is an 88 white Fairly straight body no rust paint is looking dull allot of scrapes, marks here and there some minor dings it's original paint. he wants $3k 90,000 miles These are just examples I might not end up Buying either of them. Just to give you an idea Thanks
  8. Just wondering how much would it cost for a decent paint job. What I mean by this is : Not a Macco or Earl ... what ever you call him. painting it back to it's original/ factroy color there would only be minor dings of blemishes to cover up not too much body work. I am slowly but surely looking for quest. I'm not near ready to buy yet. The majority of them that I see need body work or need paint. As we all know these are are 20+ years and most paint jobs don't survive. Mechanical things I can do no problem but when it comes to paint well I haven't got a clue. I have tried it a few times over the years e.g. painting scratches painting panels etc... but with horrible results. I am just trying to wager in a paint job in my budget, if I end up buying a quest that may need it. I am finding that a good paint job is important to me. I wanna come out and see my car and think man it looks good.I am one of those people that will focus on the blemishes straight away if there is any and can't get em out of my head. How much we talking here $2 $3k $4k. These results will determine whether I should just hang tight and wait for one that has been resprayed recently. Budget for the car is $3-$4k Any tips or tricks on keeping or getting the price down. Thanks
  9. how many miles? where you goin in Cali maybe you could drive her out
  10. Is it any good. I'll put it like this. How much would you have to spend and what kind of parts would you have to put into a 86 87 to bring it up to 88 98 shp spec. I have been trying to use the search engine but nothing comes up. Nothing comes up when i type in SHP????? Man Shp's are hard to come by. I am torn between buying an 87 now or saving my money for another while an spending the money on an 89 shp. Would it be better to put the extra money (difference in prices between 87 an 89shp) into a better suspension on the 87. would I end up with a better car? Thanks
  11. Geez man sure looks like it from the photo but I am almost certain it's something else. I took those pics a few months ago and I didn't notice it recently. Could have been dirt or summit????? I took those with my iphone (crappy cameras) on a dull day plus the paint is that pearl stuff, look at from different angles see difference in colors kinda paint. Not sure but Good eye my friend good eye!!!!
  12. I am thinking of buying this Starion. It has 60k original. Zero rust!!!!!! it was originally silver on black. it's pearl white now not the best paint job but not too bad it's starting to flake it will last a few years but will prob need doing again. It has been parked up inside and covered for a few year. the interior is 8 out of 10 and is fully complete. the body is 100% straight just the airdam is cracked it has a sunroof. tires will need replacing. clean title and service records for years since the beginning i think. Here's the ting (ha ha theres always a catch!!!!!) The guy (seems like a really nice stand up guy) has had it for 5 or six years he collects cars, he,s more into muscle non turbo cars said he would give this a go he knew the people he bought it from. Some guy he met told him he could get much more power out of it. So the owner not knowing anything about turbos let him. The guy turned up the boost way too much. He says he drove it for about 20 miles and it blew a head gasket because of over boosting. He got the head gasket repaired and they convinced him to replace the stock turbo with a brand new stock turbo. He has all receipts It comes with the old turbo which seem totally fine (i think the shop took him for a ride) The car has been driven about 10miles since all this work was done which was 2 years or so ago. It's been parked since (inside and covered) Right now the car starts and idles but wont rev up when ya stab it. I am thinking it's injector clips or bad secondary injector (he doesn't about the notorious bad clips on these cars). that's about it engine bay is clean no leaks. The guy is old 70+ and doesn't really know or have much interest in getting it going again. The car is not advertised he is not necessarily trying to sell it. I just stumbled upon it and asked if he would sell it. What other things should i look for in a case like this?? He wants $2k with the new stock turbo or 1300 to 1500 with the original one! is it worth this?? I have been looking for an 88 or 89 for a very long time now and am getting impatient. Is there really that much difference between an 1987 starion, to an 88,89 (non shp). I am seriously thinking if buying this but am concerned about what happened to it. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0360.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0361.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0362.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0363.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0364.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0365.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0366.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0371.jpg http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m253/almo4u/starion/IMG_0372.jpg
