  1. Didn't all the planets line up in around 1981-82. I was living in Bermuda and folks were saying we were going to have a tital wave wash us away. We had a huge MoJo party that day. It was one of the nicest days I had there. But I did party with my scuba equip. on just in case!
  2. I've been on both ends of the phone. Customer, retail parts, wholesale parts, and now manafacturing tech rep. We get so many crazy calls that we started to write a book. One of the most oddest calls I got was a customer that was referred to me by the sales team. The guys calls me (very angry) and states that he ordered parts three times for his engine and they keep coming in wrong. Says our parts are boxed wrong. So I ask. What engine do you have. Him. Ford Me. What size? Him. Don't know. Me. Why do you think it's a Ford? Him. Because it's blue. Well after doing research with casting numbers I found out it's a Continental engine.
  3. It was stated that they received my email and was forwarding it to the regional manager.
  4. Just got an email from NAPA Corp. They must be watching this site!
  5. Should I wear a Postman or maybe a CarQuest uniform?
  6. Some months ago I took a bare Volvo B20 head and valves in to the local NAPA machine shop to get magnafluxed, seats machined, and valves machined. I was told it would be ready the next week. So the next week came. I went to pick up my parts. I asked if the head checked out OK with the magnaflux. He said "Yea, it was OK,... umm,...well I didn't magnaflux it. But since it is a cast iron head it should be OK". I said the seats weren't machined. And where are my valves? They looked around and couldn't find my valves. I said I'll go ahead and take my head. When you find the valves I'll bring the head back to get worked on. Note: they never did anything to my head. After calling several times over the past several months. I keep getting the same reply. "We're still looking for the valves." Last week I told the store manager again that I needed the valves. I haven't heard back. I emailed corp. NAPA with my issue, and haven't heard back. NAPA is going down hill to me. A couple of years ago they started selling the same engine parts as AutoZone. If I wanted discounted parts I would have gone to AZ! So now I don't know what to do. Most places have discountiued the valves. IPD will sell a set for about $140 - 150. I don't feel like I should pay for them. But NAPA will not return my phone cals or email. Anyone have any ideas short of just walking in and taking $150 worth of parts out the door.
  7. I also want to PC my booster. I asked the question a few years ago on a rebuild kit. Haven't found one yet. I might try just saving the guts to reuse.
  8. The bearing surface is not machined. The housing bore of the rod is machined.
  9. When you have the cap and rod mating surface machined it makes the hole smaller slightly. Then the housing bore is machined larger back to stock specs. If reusing the old bearings, or pistons they should be installed back to the same location. If using new bearing and pistons it doesn't matter what location they are reinstalled.
  10. The machine shop will inspect the rod for straightness. If OK then he removes the cap. machines off a few .001 then bolts if back together. Then machines the housing bore back to factory size. Shot peening costs extra. Late model cracked rods can not be machined.
  11. But I am offered a job in another department. I'm the lucky one. Company let go about 8 - 10 folks. I'm the only one offered another position. I was a Service Engineering Tech. Analyst. I will be come Monday a Quality Inspector. I just had to bragg some. No pay raise, but still got a job! Won't be able to surf here anymore. But we'll see what happens. Before anyone says about me surfing the web at work. Remember it's helps the company for me to see how products are working in the automotive aftermarket.
  12. My wife was asked to be the president of the MENSA club while at the Univ. some years ago. She didn't accept it. I got the feeling that they were a bit snotty, and sat around talking about how smart they were. I can't remember, but was is the min. IQ to be a member. I was tested many years ago in school and mine was 135. But I think it is about 80 now.
  13. Have any of you guys read the comments posted on each product? I spent most of extra time yesterday reading them.
  14. It has those hard to find parts that haven't been seen in many years. I want an O pipe for the exhaust. And a few more items would be nice... http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=...74146f14ec1b3c5
  15. Only need a little. I guess about 1 or 2 ozs. Any one want to chime in on the amount?
  16. Got to add my 2.6 cents here. When vacuuming the a/c system it should be done for about an hour. I've heard some guys just vac it till it gets to a minus read. I usually pull it to a minus 30 pds for about an hour. You need a HD compressor for that. I then see if it will hold the minus 30 for about 15 minutes.
  17. After an engine sits for an extended amount of time the valve stem seals can dry out.
  18. Rings will not quit smoking after 10 mins. I'm thinking valve stem seals, valve guides, or turbo.
  19. Don't get anything that has silicone in it. If there is any dirt left on the tire it will lock it in and make the tire turn a brown color. I use Miquires. (spelling?)
  20. LOL! Nope! Just bored and looking for a future.
  21. This one is on sale! http://www.sonnysracingengines.com/engines...p-racing-engine
