UlrichWolf
Too bad he gave at least one piece of bad advice I can see in the pictures. Never take a temperature reading from an outboard vent. Always use a center vent like in the title pic. Also, when converting to 134, new hoses are not a necessity. The hoses used in an A/C system are called barrier hoses, and R12 will actually leave a sort of film on them on the inside, making them that much more leak-proof. It is true that 134 molecules are smaller than R12 molecules, but with used R12 hoses, there's less chance of a leak than with new hoses. It IS a necessity, however, to flush out the system well with an agent designed specifically for A/C flushing. Trust me when I say, air conditioning is easy to do. monkeywrench
Hey. How about that? That is my car but that's not me running the check. That guy has an award winning red Starquest that he's owned since high school.
UlrichWolf
Hey, don't get defensive here. The reason you don't use an outboard vent, is because it's further away from the evaporator assembly, and could give you a distorted reading. The fact that Holmes has an award-winning car is not germane to the fact that he did the test wrong. Tim
