Convette
Got a decent amount done this weekend. undercarrige is about 98% done (just got a little to do under the gas tank.) I'm almost afraid to say it, but I think I'm done welding on the chassis! Only thing left to do now is the pass side door bar, and I'll be ready to paint! I also finished my headers, I had to cut off the pass. side collector and weld a new on cause I messed up... Got the O2 housings in and the collector flange. Going to pick up some exhaust tubing hopefully tonight and get that taken care of this week as well. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0962.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0961.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0959.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0950.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0952.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0965-1.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0963.jpg

yokomo
J, which EMS are you using Brudda? and also what kinda clearance ( in inches ) does your DRIVER SIDE header have under the floorboard, like the gap between road and pipe?i think im going to go 2 1/2" out the headers and "Y" them to a 3" for that clearance. Thats where im at right now, exhaust.
Convette
I'm using a stock corvette PCM that I re-flashed to what I need for this application. Took out all the useless stuff. My headers are pretty well tucked, they are both flush with the frame rails. I made a lot of extra room when I rebuilt my tunnel. Its tight down there for sure, but I got enough room for heat sheilds and everything. I'm going to do my exhaust tonight, I'll get some pics up later. modifyd
Looking good man, I scared to attack my cutout firewall. I think I'm going with the overhung pedals - reverse swing to keep from having to actually build a firewall. Probably just sheet it over and have only perforations for starter wire (relocated battery), brake lines, and steering column. I like your idea but I scrapped my firewall, lol. Convette
Its a tough thing to get over... Do you have any pics? I've never seen anyone else cut out thier fire wall, so i'm curious as to what your working with. I almost threw mine out like 5 times, I'm kinda glad I hug on to that piece...lol

SO I notched my trans crossmember. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0984.jpg
dmyers151
Damn dude. I woulda flattened that pipe out before I notched the cross-member.
Convette
yeah I tried that and didn;t work. Not enough room. I'm up in the air about the whole thing. I might rebuild it, I might not. Kinda frustrating. I just primered the floor and didn't want to cut it up again although that would be the smarter thing to do. I got some ideas how to renforce it. It should be fine. Its not easy building and exhaust system on you back 3 inches from your face. Edited July 30, 2010 by idriftjunk

freebird
the exhaust is starting to look like heat and ac duck work.Man just grab a pipe that has a bend and weld one weld. This project is awesome, I am totally not bashing....but its true no need to weld too many times!!!heres mine....http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy68/jaybirdskate/car/car21.jpg Edited July 31, 2010 by freebird
Convette
the exhaust is starting to look like heat and ac duck work.Man just grab a pipe that has a bend and weld one weld. This project is awesome, I am totally not bashing....but its true no need to weld too many times!!!heres mine....http://i778.photobucket.com/albums/yy68/jaybirdskate/car/car21.jpg Sure if I had bender I would have one weld. I'm not 100% happy with it, but for now it flows well, and it cost me $50. I'm not bashing either, but your trans mount is backwards, and you dual exhaust isn't symetrical. When I get a tig welder, I'll build a stainless one, with "bends".. Whatever its done coulda been simpler but isn't.. The engines back out, and tomorrow the whole car is getting primer.http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0991.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0995.jpg And for Dale, I welded on some thick plates to strenthen the frame rails. I'm still working on the trans mount. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0989.jpg
yokomo
i stabbed a flex pipe on my passenger side down pipe, and 1 where the "Y" pipe is.I don't know how mild steel is, but stainless moves all over the place when you have a lot of heat in it.and why are you not done yet? Don't make me drive over there and help you.
Convette
yeah I'm going to look into some flex sections eventually. Not really worried about it right now. so its FINALLY IN PRIMER! I ran out near the end of it, but all the major areas are done. I'm going to grab some more and some paint this week and get her all covered up. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_0996.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_1000.jpg also did a heat coating on my ghetto exhaust. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_1001.jpg
