I got the email with the tracking number, thanks 101... i was wondering though, was there anything special done to my exhaust that would require the installation shop to do anything different? My car is bone stock right now so I just have the stock oxygen sensor..

dem0ntsi,

when i installed one for my 87, it was simple bolt-on install. but the new system with the hangers on the clamp for the B-pipe, you will have to bend the hangers position it right.

thanks,

101,

i received my exhaust yesterday and everything looks nice except for one important issue. the flange where the down pipe meets the back of the turbo concerns me. the placement of the pipe is too far off center leaving only an 1/8" or so of material around the bottom of the flange. i fear this is prone to leak and wanted to address it prior to installation.

The Pipe is centered. Each mounting hole is the same distance from the pipe making it centered. It IS however thin on that edge. WHY. My guess is because of the turbo exhaust housing. Most 3 inch Exhausts flanges have difficulty bolting up here. Why that was done on your 2.5??????

My 2.6 cents.

89PalermoSHP,

i am sorry to hear you are having a problem.

it looks like the pipe is mounted too low but actually it is mounted right in the center. bottom flat flange makes it looks like it is off center.(see picture below)

as for the bottom flange being flat and thin compare to other two sides is because it needs to clear the round cover on the turbo right below of the downpipe outlet. i could not mount the pipe higher because there will be no clearance for the tool to fit over the bolt to mount the top nut. this is the only way to make the dp fit flush on the turbo.

i think there will be some back pressure in the exhaust system but it is not like having same pressure as the exhaust manifold and since this is a straight through design, with proper installation, i don think there will be any exhaust leak at the downpipe flange.

so far i have sold over 50 downpipes and the full exhaust systems and have not heard any exhaust leak problems yet.

i did not drive much with the exhaust installed on mine but i did not notice andy leaks. i also checked my turbo to dp gasket and did not see any black smoked mark showing any signs of exhaust leaks.

thanks,

101

Mine was delivered today, i have to pick it up from the apt office tommorrow :party0049:

I was wondering... is anyone going to replace their oxygen sensor when the get their exhaust installed?

I was told we should go to a 3-4 wire O2 sensor with a bigger exhaust?

Just got mine installed! It went fairly easy for the most part. I am glad that the noise at idle is not obnoxious. Gonna take it out later to hear it under boost!

The biggest issue I encountered with the install is that the bolts supplied were about an inch too short so I had to stimulate the local economy to the tune of ~$6 and get new ones.

You should be able to keep the one wire O2 in stock loc. for the stock ecu and add a wideband setup whenever you want. (Thats what the second bung is in the B-Pipe for)That is what Dad suggested to me awhile back. The AEM Uego is an easy to install and reliable wideband setup.

The only thing that i was wondering is has anyone installed their new exhaust with the wideband at 10:00 where 101 welded the bung?Does it clear everything because he forgot to weld my bung in the b-pipe so i figured id ask before i received the bung and welded it on myself :confused0024: And if i could use a mig welder to weld it on?thanks,Gary

About that small discrepancy on the exhaust clearance at the turbo there is plenty of clearance on my s16g so could have definetly used more steel there to stop a potential leak. Mookeh you could have kept it thick in that area then offered a new wastgate plate with the new shape.

The product is high quality looks very nice good manufacturing job.
