IntercooledFlatty
or like the air grabber scoops on the Road Runner/Superbees. It was vacuum operated, so when you nailed it, it popped up. You could do the same for our cars, just have it pressure operated instead. Be pretty BA, just, you need the room under the scoop for the mecanism...which our cars dont have http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s263/aiche_photos/Cars%20n%20Stuff/70RoadRunner022.jpg
v8starion
Does anyone remember the manual pop up scoops they had on F-100 Ford trucks like around 54? Anyone ever think of mounting something like that? or moderize it and use something like the motors for the wing on a crossfire so when you go fast it pops up. Got anyone thinking yet? or like the air grabber scoops on the Road Runner/Superbees. It was vacuum operated, so when you nailed it, it popped up. It could be activated by a relay & boost presure switch.

Scotty Dont
Hey backsider do you still have that car? I remember (when I first joined this forum) reading about you parting the car because of marital issues. Would be nice if it was still on the road... mozziemo_169
Ok... I like the idea about the hood scoop... How do you keep the rain from hitting the turbo?
mstieg
As you can see from the circled area below on the airflow chart this is where a reverse scoop needs to be added. Add a reverse scoop to allow it out and you under hood temps will drasticly lower creating lower engine temps and more powa. I've seen sever race cars with some really nice pop-rivet on units I wish I could find. As soon as I do you can bet I'll be hacking up someone's non-83 hood. As for aestetics I prefer a balance between form and function. However, if proded I lean towards function. I've seen the po-rivet on one on the rx7 below in person and liked it. No bondo either, it will just crack. I also lke the one on the vert because the T2 rx7 uses the same insert style as the 83 hood only a guy fabricated some inserts to be functional reverse vents. http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/3017/stardynamics.jpg Anyway, if anybody sees a scoop like this for sale please let me know I think you have it backwards. The areas in RED would be the place to put a reverse cowl induction since the vac will pull out the hotness. The areas in BLUE is where you'd mount a front opening, preferably raised up a wee bit to avoid the turbulance. Best place seems to be right up at the very front, probably about flush with the corner of the headlight. Here's another pic of a raised scoop used on my Dad's 69 AMX drag car. It feeds right into the dual carbs. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10168/02.jpg
