SFBMX88
Is there any difference between the auto transmissions from 86-89?

JustPaus_88TSi
The 88-89 converter is also a different size than the 87 unit. The flexplates are also different sizes. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10009/convertors2.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10009/auto%20convertors.jpg
SFBMX88
So I can put an 86 auto trans+converter+flexplate in an 88-89?
movin on
To add to this I found out I had an 87 transmission in my 88. The transmission went out, so I bought an 89 trans, TQ, and drive plate just to be sure. When I compared the flex plates, they are identical. I believe they are both just over 12" tall, but they are the same. I am not saying that I didn't have an 88-89 drive plate on there. I didn't pull the TQ out yet, but they are both the goldish color like in the photo. So what I am saying is that I had a 88-89 drive plate and TQ on my car and they worked with the 87 transmission. If anybody has the dimensions of the different TQ's and drive plates. I would be more than happy to check mine to make sure they are what has been said to me, but my car did work.
