The new setup - now with air/water intercooling

Recommended Posts

Finally got my motor back last week from the machine shop. Built with wiseco's .030 over, balanced, etc. Hope this one lasts longer than the last one. A HUGE thumbs up to gofastredstar for all the help. Couldn't have done it without ya bud!

Here are some pics. Still need another day of minor buttoning up, etc, but this will give you the general idea of where we're at:

This morning - a shell waiting for new life:

All installed - motor, transmission, head, and manifolds were all installed in about 2 hrs. We were on a roll ;)

I'm very pleased with the overall layout. Can't wait to finish her up and take a spin!

any way to measure charge temps on your setup? like an air temp sensor after the intercooler, and one before would be SWEET too.

All the answers can be found right here http://www.frozenboost.com/ i have one of thoes waiting to be installed as well when i put my hurricane on. what did you use for your heat exchanger turbo addict, and did you include an ice down tank?

Looks sweet. How efficient would a setup like this be on the street. Wouldn't the water temp vary?

I purchased the 26X7X2 (type 118) heat exchanger from Siliconeintakes.com. I don't have a ice down tank, but what I did do is pick up a IC sprayer and instead of purging my nitrous out in front of the windshield, now I'll use it to super cool the heat exchanger before a run. I may even put another line and tee it in, and hook it up to the wide open throttle switch so it continues to cool it down every time you mash the gas... but since I am running a small dry shot for extra cooling, that may be a bit overkill. :)

Just waiting on the new stainless line to show up - that's why there's nothing hooked up to the sprayer right now.

Actually, my air intake temp sensor is on that pipe going right into the throttle body - so it is after the IC, about 6" before the throttle body. I don't know why I can't see it in that pic - unless that was taken during mock up before it was drilled and mounted... I am running FIP's ecu, so my temps are readable when the laptop is hooked up, dataloggable, etc. And I guess adding another one before wouldn't be difficult at all, to get a before and after reading - but I'd need another gauge, run the wires, find a place to mount that gauge... and I'm just not that motivated lately. :party0009:
