I couldnt remember if i started a post for my car so here goes.

I finally got back into this car. I got it back on Oct 2002. The car had 116k on it and I was the second owner. I had the orig title from 83 along with tons of orig documentation including the msrp sheet. The car was very well maintained but i guess in 99 it was plagued with an electrical problem  . My brother was a mitsu mechanic and worked on this car since the 80s and he got the car from the owner for $400 i think. To try and fix the no spark problem the previous owner tried several things so with the car i got a ton of extra electrical parts including dist, coils, knock boxes, ecus, ignition switch, etc... the problem turned out to be the ground wire from the knock box, 10 min fix, just cut the wire and grounded it. Unfortunately a very well mainted car sat outside for 3 years without moving before I got to it so it does have some rust problems.

After I got it running ofcourse I had to clean the injectors and the fuel system out. It ran hot and had broken vac solenoids everywhere. I got the car running well and it started knocking. Replaced the rod bearings and it ran great for a short time then the head cracked! It sat for 2months before I could get a new head on it. Back running again and it started knocking again! All this with only about 500 miles put on the car.

So after only having the car on the road for a month I pulled it back off the road and pulled the motor. Alot happened between then and now and last week i finally have it back on the road.

I stripped and painted the engine bay. rebuilt the motor and deleted all of the uneccessary stuff. When i first got the car i built a 2.5" exhaust system for it and thats about as far as that went.

here are some pics of the car when i got it along with where it is now.

the car has never been in a collision so its straight but because it sat for those years outside its got some rust issues. mostly the front 1/4s but the passenger side rocker is bad, rear fender where the mud guards are and a few other spots like the corners on the hood. the fram rails underneath are in good shape with no rust but the seams underneath where the panels meet will need some attention. I plan on posting pics of the damage areas and getting opinions on how to fix it.

Right now i plan on using this as my daily driver and addressing all the normal issues that come along with these cars and getting it mechanically in good shape then addressing the body work. Obviously the engine bay is painted, ive powdered the VC and timing cover. All the emissions equipment is removed as well as the abs. I have the 2.5" exhaust with no cat and a bullet muffler on there. I built a megasquirt for the car a few years back and ive got a holset hx40 turbo that i will eventually put on this car(hopefully). The outside will stay stock, will be repainted rocky white and hopefully have the ES graphics.

car runs cool now and i accidentally started on body work yesterday. I was messing with my wipers and i took the cowl vent off and noticed some rust under there so i started sanding and slowly worked my way to the bad spots on the hood. Once they were down to bare metal i couldnt just leave it. the front corners are in bad shape. rust formed between the top and bottom layer making high spots in the hood. I had to cut out those sections. I think im going to make this hood look good from the outside then take a mold of it(eventually) because i dont think i really want to repair all the small seams.

the gap between the hood and the header panel is a dent in the header panel. I still have alot of sanding to do on the hood. Ill probably throw a coat of primer on it and check for high spots.

the front right edge has some wear on it, not sure if its from sun damage but there arent any cracks anywhere on the dash. The wheel is shot because the Previous owner had a steering wheel cover on it:(

car recently got a little more attention.

Put an IC from a widebody on it, got some wilwood 4 pistons calipers, nsx 11.1" drilled/slotted rotors. its getting there.

rotors are about 1" larger than stock flatty rotors. calipers will be on the front edge instead of the rear. still working on master cylinder options and rear brakes.
