hello members,

i am working on mookeeh mk1 front & rear swaybars and looking for a member who has extra set of stock front and rear swaybars(and end links, bushing clamps and etc if possible)and willing to let me have/borrow them as prototype for this project. In return, i will give a set of mk1 front and rear swaybars for free.

thanks,

Would it be possible to have a custom front swaybar made to clear an aftermarket oil pan?

Roush,

well....i am not sure if can as you know that i might have to get 300-500 pieces of same style and it would be really hard for them to make just one....

how is it different? do you have a picture? or drawing?

let me know.

thanks,

mine are off as well. I don't want mine back... you can keep them. They're garbage to me anyways. I have ST swaybars on the car

Can you ask your supplier if they can make them adjustable?

Something like this: http://www.powergridinc.com/swaybar.asp

One problem using a rod end type of link the bar may move around. Happened to my buddies neon when he made custom end links. A very nice idea, but you may need to use a collar around the bar to keep it centered.

I thought when I first read adjustable I thought of the blade type adjustable bar. You can adjust it in car and change the stiffness of the bar, pretty sweet.

Like this,

That would be really sweet, don't know if we could use a straight bar though.

Though you could make them semi adjustable by putting a few holes in the end instead of one.

hello members,

i took off my front sway bar today to try out bushing samples.

well...endlink bushings look like they fit good but none of the sway bar bushing samples fit right. however, now i have the stock bushings, i can measure and ask for the right size ones.

i am planning to take off the rear sway bar tomorrow and try some bushings for that as well.

i will post more pictures tomorrow.

thanks,

I'd like to see how the sway bar kit works with the end links pictured when the car is lowered as much as we can go with your coilover kits.

A blade type is neat and all, but I think its overkill. A tighter end link setup, however, is a necessity. Ball joint for example would be nice.

Hey 101, what will the thickness be of your REAR swaybar? I have a st rear swaybar that is 13/16" remember? You looked into having your supplier build some bushings for this bar (in your old bushings thread)but it would be too expensive for just my set. If your bar is going to be the same size tho, (i.e. 13/16") what about now? There's lots of us with st sway bars that need new, red bushings  and you have the control to make your bars the same size. These are the only ones that ST doesn't offer with their kits.

bump for question

sorry for the late reply.

sorry as i already answered your question before, i can't get the ones you need at this moment. below is the copy.

as for the sway bars i am working on, i have not even received the stock sway bars from a member yet and there is no progress on this project.

i will get back on this project asap.

thanks,

Hi 101,

I have a set of ST sway bars. The rear sway bar is 13/16" outer dia.. ST doesn't provide the rear bushings for the mounting brackets though with their kit. You have to reuse the stock ones

The stock rear sway bar mounting brackets are unique also and have to be reused. Only one end bolts down, the other end slides down into a retainer slot. A double ended bolt slot type bracket like you have shown above won't work for the rear sway bar brackets.

Do you have bushings that will fit into the rear 2 stock brackets and come with an inner hole to fit the ST 13/16" sway bar? If so, I'd like a pair of these. Thanks

Here's a link to their swaybar pdf:

pitboss,

i took my rear sway bar off last week and know exactly what you are talking about.

bottom half of the bushing braket is welded on and only the top half comes off.

i tried many different size bushings and none fit right.

it has to be same size as stock one but with bigger id for your st rear swaybar.

i had the manufacturer work on this(stock size) and will ask them if they can make some with bigger id(13/16" or 0.8125")

i will let you know.

thanks,

Hi 101,

It's been awhile, just wondering if you've heard back from your supplier concerning these back sway bar bushings, and if you can get them or not? Thanks

pitboss,

sorry for the late reply.

in order to make bushing for your swaybars, they said that a new tooling(mould) is required.

i am sorry to tell you but it is very expensive to make a tooling just for one set of bushings.

only way i can think of is to drill out the bushing center hole bigger to fit your swaybars.

sorry

101, I know what you said before. What I'm getting at is that a bigger bushing could be an option to us with ST bars NOW if you were to go with a bigger than stock rear swaybar of the same size. Just pointing that out.

pitboss,

ok :)

mk1 swaybars are going to be made by the factory that make the bushings, so i will have them make the right size swaybar bushings when they make the swaybars.

maybe i have them make mk1 swaybars same size as the st ones.

by the way, mk1 swaybars will come with new bushings at no charge.

but i am not sure when this will happen as of right now.

i will keep you updated.

thanks,
