Here's my before and after work on polishing a single wheel from the Starion.    All done by hand, using wet sandpaper.  In this order of grit, 220, 340, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500.  Then use your favorite mag polish.

I just started polishing my front rims today. I'll be damned if one one rim isnt perfect and the other has pot marks in the step.  >:( The marks are all clustered in one spot about 2 inches long , and they are pretty deep, almost as if some salt or something was eating them away. Now i gotta decide whether to just ignore them or find another front rim to polish >:(

They actually sell alloy rim paint in chain stores like auto zone.I have used it on some parts and they came out good. It's chemical resistant ,thick, strong.

oooh. ok. I did one section of my rim but it took so long cuz i used a die grinder to get the clear coat off and and that scratched the rm up bad. It took forever just to get those scratches out. That stripper should speed the process up alot. Thanks alot.

I wanted to thank you for this post. I started stripping my rims today swtep by step as your instructions said. I noticed a few things.

Nobody mentioned how sweet the wheels look after the stripper takes the clear coat off. You can almost see yourself in them.

So my next question would be is there a clear coat that will not dull the finish like the factory clear coat did? I don't want the high maitnance of a uncleared wheel.
