  1. I wanted to thank you for this post. I started stripping my rims today swtep by step as your instructions said. I noticed a few things. Nobody mentioned how sweet the wheels look after the stripper takes the clear coat off. You can almost see yourself in them. So my next question would be is there a clear coat that will not dull the finish like the factory clear coat did? I don't want the high maitnance of a uncleared wheel.
  2. I was talking to one of my offraod buddies up at the shop today. He has ajeep TJ and he said why don't you make "J" hooks like the jeeps have factory. It it is just a metal tab the wraps around the last coil and holds it to the perch incase it tries to unload. I am hoping to build a custom camber plate set up. The coilovers will make this proccess much easier. And since I am pretty sure I am going to have to get rid of the upper strut mounts to make the custom cabler plates I think I am going to go with thr GR-2's as everything I have read says they are a little softer. I do already have strut bars that the previos owner put on my 89 that I will move to the 87 when I part out the 89
  3. I just aquired a nice 87 conquest and I want to do the suspension. Is there a polyurethane suspension bushing kit made by anybody? I checked around and did a few google searches but came up with only poly sway bar bushings. Also I am planning on lowering it but every spring kit and style will unseat when unloaded. One of the wheels on my 89 leaves the ground when I drive over this hill on one of the country roads on the way home. No dukes of hazard stuff but you can hear the tire chirp as it comes back down. Is there any kits that won't unseat. Has anybody had any luck with these coil over kits. I like the idea that I can set the suspension at the hieght I want and I have heard that some of the spring kits sack out in the rear like both my quests factory springs have done. And finally what would a good set of used SHP struts pull on ebay or where ever else. Thanks in advance
  4. There is a better way.... Might want to make this a sticky if possible.... If you want a nice looking install kit without spending much cash. Go to you local toyota dealer or other import car dealer. Not sure if mitsu uses them or not. All the 2002 and older toyotas came with dual din radio slots. But they only used one din and have a nice little plastic box that fits below the radio. These are a direct fit into a starquest. And every after market radio I have ever seen already has the screw holes in the side of it to match up with the factory radio screws. Simply take the filler box from toyota and put it below the new radio and bolt it in. You will have a ultra clean look for little or no cost. You will still need a wire adapter. the boxs from toyota are probably laying around every shop, but they will want to make a few dollars on them . I think they go for about 7 bucks. Looks way better then those crappy install kits
  5. Oh yeah I also did my interior panels in black vinal in my samurai and replaced the headliner all with the help of joans. and I made a custum fit speaker box for the trunk of my 2G and coated it in vinal fabric (man it is a clean install and looks way better the fiberglass to me)
  6. Paul I have a friend who got a set of seats reapolstered in omish country for like 75 for both seats in his 82 celica. They look great. He did this a few years back. If you want I can talk to him and find out where he got this done. Also I did a set of seats for my samurai. I had to swallow my pride, but I walked into joan fabrics and asked th ladies how to do it. I just pulled all the cloth off the seats (held on by hog rings) then I just cut out the stiching where the two pieces of fabric meet and removed the peice I wanted to replace. Then I layed the removed piece over the new fabric and cut out a piece of material. Then hand sewed it back in (this takes a while 2-3 hours per seat. also you do all this with the seat cover inside out so you don't see any of the stiching. I am not sure if the conquest seats have the plastic wire thing that runs around the edge of the seat bottom, but I could not figure out how to take that apart so you are on your own for that one. Anyway it is just sewing. Not very hard just tedios work
