Sequential Tail Lights

Recommended Posts

So I bought this sequential LED tail light kit and got it all wired up. Has anyone used these before? I have this weird problem of the blinkers working fine but if I push the brakes the foglights and parking lights flash with the blinkers and they never go solid like they are supposed to. I contacted the company and they have no idea what the problem is. Anyone have any ideas how this is happening?

There are a lot of things that it could be. The way its wired up, how the lights work, etc. So could you give us some more information?

First of all, I forgot to add the link to the kit that I used. This is it.

Well I tried it two different ways. With one of the two modules I wired it into one of the stock light harnesses and the other I just plugged directly into the light socket. For the brake line I tapped into the wire that goes to the third brake light since it is basically wired directly to the brake switch.

The success is in the details, however I did have a problem with sequential stuff on one of my cars, the power goes through the turn signal switch and my MPI car one leaked voltage. Enough voltage to prevent the blinking even with the correct blinker relay.

Yeah there are tons of inherent problems with this due to the way SQ cars are wired from the factory..... you need our module to blinker box module to solve these issues:

I also should mention that I have the CF12ANL-01 electronic flasher modules installed.

Were you able to fix it? Seems like a well placed diode or ground wire would prevent that kind of thing.

The whole reason I bought these was because Burton had used them in the past and they were only $50. Besides, I don't really care for the look of the aftermarket tail lights. Not really my style.

No, I bought a junk one to see about taking it apart and cleaning it but that is still sitting here about to get moved 1300 miles East of here. The other car was fine so it can work, Burton did my sequentials so it must be the same gizmo.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the same one. I PM'd him a while back and he mentioned these units. Would it be possible for you to take some pictures of the wiring and email them to me so I can figure this out?

Yeah, this look isn't for everybody:

So that's why we offer the sequential LED blinker box by itself. This module is unique because it's built specifically for the SQ and has an adjustable tuning POT so the user can control the sequential blink frequency:

I couldn't find it on your website and from what I remember when it was for sale in the group buy section (could be wrong on where it was) it was around 3x the cost of the one I bought. I'm a graduate student with a wife and 2 kids. I just figured since others have gotten the "off the shelf" one to work that it shouldn't be too difficult. Guess I was wrong!

So as it turns out, I was able to figure out how to use these kits. You basically have to run a separate wire for the brakes directly off the brake switch (not the high stop lamp like I did) which gives you a separate line for the blinkers and the brakes. The blinker line overrides the brakes line which allows you to have the brakes on while the blinker is flashing. Anyways, these are a pretty cheap kit if anyone wants to use them and doesn't mind that they flash a little fast. If you want the adjustability, buy them from Motocam360. He makes good products.
