So stoked...was able to get Angie and I tickets to the MotoGP races at Circuit of the Americas coming up in April. This will be the first time I've been able to watch it live and in person. We got main grandstand with parking pass included, and I've already got approval to get off work from the boss man. Can't wait! http://www.circuitof...icas.com/motogp

I'd love to sit at turn 11 or 16. those corners look interesting. I gave up my ZXR400 for a harley.

much respect to those riders

Cannot wait. My favorite riders hold #1 and #2 in the standings. Marquez because he's on a Honda, and Rossi...well just because he's Rossi (and he started on a Honda)

Those races are awesome. Driving a car is one thing but riding like they do takes a lot of skill. Get some video!

It's a whole different dynamic. I've learned a lot...it's amazing how moving your butt just a centimeter in the seat completely changes the ride character.

Niko I have been to the races the last couple of years and they are awesome. Also been to the f1 race a couple years in a row. Always a good time and the bikes down the front straight sound AWESOME. I really liked watching the support races to the gp3 race is awesome everyone on very similar bikes duking it out. I will let you know if we make it this year. Maybe we can meet up.

yeah those look like pretty cool seats to have...they must be because they were sold out in December!

My wife is a Kawi rider (Ninja 250). We looked for a used ZXR400 but they're super hard to find, and the 250 was a better fit for her (she's only 4'10")

Been following MotoGP and the other groups since 2000, also kept up with Sport Bike. FINALLY get to go see one.

How far of a drive is it for you from Lubbock? Would be awesome to meet up at the races.

Funny ... I just rebuilt a 250 ninja not too long ago and sold it to a guy who fell in love with my quest. He ended up trading his old mopar for a built quest. That's where I met hotrodTSI (Terry) for the first time cause my buyer wanted me to look over the car for him.It was Terry's friend who was trading. anywho, the 400 was not availible in the States. Europe and Asia only. I was able to bring mine back from Okinawa thanks to the Marine Corps and I would have my sister-in-law send parts over when I needed them. I ended up selling it to a guy in Cali who was going to road race it. He had a friend who made regular trips to Japan so parts for him were easy. As far as I know myself and a friend brought ours back and a guy had a company called EMI (exotic motorcycle imports) (in Cali) brought over a few. Maybe 10 or 12 in the whole US. Fast bike for its size. It would eat 600's off the line without thinking about it. Upwards of 90 in the 2-3 gear range. yea I miss it.

  • 1 month later...

This is probably the best weekend I've had in years. I got to see my idol Valentino Rossi race in person for the first time...been following him since he was running 250 class in the 90's.

Threats of thunderstorms, hail, and humidity had me bummed as we headed to Austin, but we ended up getting lucky. Terrific weather in which to watch...perfect weather for the riders on the track.

Here's some pics to start...I'll post the rest tomorrow...

My beautiful wife Angie...she's a Kawasaki rider (note the jacket), but Valentino Rossi, Andrea Migno, and Jesko Raffin were her loyalties today.

Awesome. just saw the race last night!

Marquez was flying! good race!

Oh my gosh it was awesome. The front five stayed close for the first few laps, then Marquez broke free and never looked back. He is almost metronomic in his riding style...so consistent. And this track caters to his style...as is witnessed by the fact that he's won the race here for three years straight.

Don't know if you heard, but he broke the track record in qualifying on Saturday...on a bike that hadn't been warmed up yet. His first bike had difficulties so he pulled it over, left it on the side track, jumped the fence, ran to his paddock and hopped on the back-up bike. Went straight out on cold tires and broke the record...amazing.

Austin 360 Theater, where Cheap Trick performed after the races. The structure in the background is the watch-tower...has a great view of the entire course.
