Silver86
Hello, everyone. Well, after 28 years of lusting after widebody Starquests, I finally got one. I found a clean example about three hundred miles away in Sacramento and talked my friend who has a truck into helping me tow it home. It was probably driveable, but had leaking injectors and we all know how that could have turned out. http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu177/2002GTI/Starion4.jpg I have been a diehard Mitsubishi fan my whole life, starting with a 1g Eclipse, then a 2g Talon, then a Galant VR4, and now an Evo 8 for my daily driver. I wish I still had them all, but currently only have the Evo and now the Starion, which are perfect companions. http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu177/2002GTI/Starion1.jpg http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu177/2002GTI/Starion2.jpg My goal with the Starion (my wife calls it a "Japanese Toy Robot", she just doesn't understand its awesomeness!) is to bring it back to reliable stock condition running stock engine management and to keep it able to pass California smog, which is a true nightmare. I went through years of tuning my Galant VR4 (which is basically a 1g 4G63) with S-AFC, Maf Translators, etc. which was okay at the time, but always left me endlessly tweaking, running too ruch, too lean, start up issues, etc. My goal is to keep it really simple with the Starion, with OEM fuel management with boost maybe bumped to 10psi (isn't that fuel cut for a 1986?) Thanks to the board for already helping me out with some OEM injectors that don't leak, you guys saved me! At some point, I want to take it for very easy going track days because it was designed for that and because these cars deserve to be driven! Let me know if you are in Southern California and want to join me. Thanks again everyone, see you on the board. Tim
bodhi
Tim, good luck with the car, looks like one I had back in the day. I bought an 87 starion in 1990, blew it up in 1991. Waited till 2013 to finally get another one. Best of luck, my wife does not get it either.

SOTTY
Nice example you found there of the very underated 86 , install a later 3 port actuator for 10 lbs of boost with a HKS fcd and call it good, turns them into a very fun/fast car and wakes up that great two big injector set up that Mitsubishi really should've kept.
