tsuprat
My hood release cable broke this morning. Thanks to the forum and a nice picture from 89PalermoSHP of the hood latch. I was able to get up under the car with a steel rod and open the hood. Thanks.
TexasQuest
When you replace it tape the new cable to the old one really well with electrical tape. Then slowly pull the old cable out while the new cable slides into place. Randy at enginemachineservice.com sell new oem hood cables. Fuze
You can also get an extra long bicycle brake cable and just slide it back through the cable housing after you pull the old one out. Go from inside the car to the front, the part that normally goes into the brake lever is what goes into the catch in the release lever.. A simple pinch bolt is used at the latch after you trim the cable to size. Works great and takes about 5 minutes to install.
