How is the same? As an American you don't want to be grouped together with things Americans (your fellow countrymen) commonly do? I'm not grouping you with Canadians or some other country, but your own country.

I am American. However I'm not the type of person that you described in your statement. I don't think all Hispanic people are Mexican. I don't think all middle easterners are arabs. Ect... that is a narrow minded view and your statement was equally narrow minded. So if that is your opinion of Americans you are just as guilty of the same ignorance you were preaching about. I also don't have anything against Canadians, so if you mistook me for one, why should I care?

edit:

The way I see your point is this...

Would it be fair to call anyone of German ancestry a Nazi??? Maybe that is something the SOME Germans are/were proud of and stood for, but others were likely, very ashamed of it? Just because some ignorant Americans think that way, does not mean that we should all be lumped together with one blanket statement like...

Its just such an american perspective to just assume anyone from Eastern Europe is russian, anyone who is hispanic is mexican, and anyone from the middle east is arab.

That is the same kind of misconception that a lot other people have about Americans from the Southeastern US. Some people think we are all racist, ignorant, rednecks, and I hate that kind of stereotype.

Which is why it ticks me off, to no end, to see what is happening to America today by design. Socialism/Progressivism does not work for the average Joe or Jane!!!!

I think that conflating communist USSR with Socialism/Progressivism is to misunderstand both.

For what that is worth ;)

Really? All three of those forms of government have historically proposed that everyone works together for the common good of everyone else. However, the Communists were a repressive socialist government. The slackers make the same amouint of money as the go getters for the same job position There is a minimal incentive for getting ahead in life unless you have the "Right Connections" and perhaps more political influence.

Look at the way America is heading in it's Socialist/Progressive slide. Are you better off today than you were 6 years ago, or are you just barely keeping your head finanicially above water. For instance, how can the US Senate take away Retired or injured in the line of duty Armed Forces Veteran benefits just to pay for these teenagers who can't keep their zippers up, their legs crossed or even use a condom; or how about the US Government paying health care for illegal aliens who don't deserve squat handouts from our government.

If you see no problem with Socialism or Progressivism and this form of government comes to pass here in America, I sincerely hope in 10 to 15 years that you and your children are better off than you are today and can enjoy the American freedoms that I grew up with in the 40's, to the mid '2000's. Or are you just going to be a Social Security number dependent upon the Federal government for your livelihood and freedoms?

But to each his own. I'm glad that I'm 68 years old and don't have that much time left to see what the American Socialism/Progressivism movement is evolving into. I feel that the individual incentive to achieve all that each individual can achieve, because of their individual planning and taking the risks and making correct decisions will be totally wiped out by Federal Law and taxes. I feel remorse that my kids and any grand kids will have to live under that form of government.

What the hell ever happened to America's belief in John F. Kennedy's ( one of the patron saints of the Democratic Party ) statement, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but rather, what YOU can do for your country." Oh, I forgot - President Lyndon Baynes Johnson came after Kennedy and instituted "the Great Society" which forever changed America and it's become more Socialist/Progressive ever since.
