viper1355
So about a month ago, I drove 400 miles to Utah to pick up a new (to me) 1987 quest. Heck of a ride, and The car made it back pretty much no problem. And... then the plastic knock box quit. After waiting 2 weeks to finally get the 88/89 box, the car is up and running and driving. Pics (she needs a bath): http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p42/viperxs13r/IMG_20130925_164212.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p42/viperxs13r/IMG_20130925_164112.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p42/viperxs13r/IMG_20130925_164135.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p42/viperxs13r/IMG_20130925_163809.jpg Forgot to take engine bay and interior shots, I'll get those next week. There's an un-tuned MAF translator and a wideband on the car now, but that's really the only modification done. I did pick up a complete motor and trans that I plan to build for MPI while I drive this car. Current plans are to go through the car and get it running top notch. I think the injectors are probably hosed and it needs valve stem seals - When I did a tune-up today, the middle two plugs were completely fouled and burned, while the outer 2 plugs looked like the cylinders were lean if anything. All the plugs are wet with oil though. Once I sort through all that and tune the car, I'll start modifying it. I'm looking at doing a battery re-locate and custom hard pipes with a bigger intercooler as well as an aluminum radiator with new fans for starters, along with a 16g and supporting mods as a short term goal - this winter/spring hopefully. Once that's done I want to do a 6-bolt swap and d2's and eventually get that other MPI motor in along with a good ball-bearing turbo from turbonetics or garrett. Oh, and somewhere in there the seats will be swapped to the nicer buckets and I'll hopefully be picking up an 88/89 airdam from NikoFab : ]
techboy
I'm jealous Mike. That's the color I've always hoped to find. Love the silver. Actually thinking about painting my white car silver someday. Nice find! I spotted by the Autoparts store the other day. Just not the same not seeing your Fiji sitting out there. viper1355
Thanks guys. I'm loving the silver as well. There's some accents I'd like to try with plasti-dip, but that's on a back burner. Although to be quite honest, with as bad as my itch was getting I probably would have bought one that was 3 different colors and rusty as long as it ran . I'm glad this one was so well sorted and well painted. Chris, I miss that car, and I actually miss that job, lol. Working at a chain parts store is too easy. Big shout out to you Tim - After I had ordered that part from someone else and had been waiting for 2 weeks, you really saved my cars bacon - It was actually sitting at my work and I really wasn't comfortable leaving it there that long. Can't tell you how much I appreciate you getting that shipped. I plan on having a lot of fun with this girl and hopefully making her into one monster of a car.
