Clear Tail Lights

I would like to see something backing this up also. I've been into SQs for 10 years now and have been clearing and restoring SQ tails for almost that long as well as from all kinds of other cars. As far as I know, the only clear tails I've ever seen are ones that are made by heating up the sealing glue, removing the clear, outer lens, then removing the red inner lens and sealing it back up. I'm sure they've done it to some of the ones in Japan too, but really, the only ones I've ever seen have been here in the U.S., and mostly on this site. None of the cleared lights I've known of came like that from the factory. They were all done by the owners after the fact.

Also, look at the stampings on the outer lens between the reflector and the back up light. Do you see the letters DOT? If so, those lights were designed for the US market. DOT stands for Dept. of Transportation and has regulations making sure the tails used in the USDM market are up to US laws and standards. I highly doubt if Mitsu made any light specifically for the JDM market that they would waste their time and money getting DOT approval. I also doubt they would allow a light that was specifically made for the JDM market and didn't meet DOT specs to have a DOT stamp on it.

So post up some clean and clear, close up pictures of these tail lights. Im very curious to see what you are talking about. To my knowledge there are a few different styles of tail lights, but Ive never seen a factory clear tail light for these cars. Im not saying they don't exist, Im just saying you HAVE to prove that they do, before I will admit that you didn't just get fooled into believing that they are something super rare.

Maybe you should read through this thread... http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127573

I see nothing there about clear tail lights. It seems that most of the who's who around the SQ world have posted about the rarest of SQ parts and yet nothing about clear tails. I do have a few sets of different tail lights and kind of want some of all of them. SO, if there are more out there, I need to start the hunt.

However, it seems to me that this may be similar to a guy we had on the boards here about a year ago. That guy swore that he had SHP wheels, 8" fronts and 9" rears, but they just didn't have the SHP markings, the only set in the world that were SHP wheels with no SHP markings...turns out, he didn't know the proper way to measure the width of a wheel. So, after about 10 different people told him he didn't have SHP wheels and the 7s and 8s he was trying to sell for $600 was never gonna happen, he got a little butthurt and disappeared.

SO....Pics please? That way I can eat some crow and know what to look for in the rarest of SQ tail lights.

There were no overseas Quests, only Starions. Are they Conquest style or Starion style tails? If Conquest, then they were ABSOLUTELY not from overseas.

You're the first person I've heard of ever say that there are clear SQ tails from the factory, JDM or otherwise. You'll probably have to back up that claim for it to stick.

Wait, maybe I should jump onboard this... I've got a couple sets of clear tails out in the shop I'm about to restore. I'll just clear em instead and start selling them as the rare JDM clear SQ tails.... $500 a set LOL!

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just passionate about knowing about and owning all the rare stuff for these cars and this is something I've never heard of or seen. However, I've seen dozens of cleared tails done by various SQ owners over the years. I'm also passionate about tails, tail mods, and restoring tails and lights in general so I'd think I would have heard about it.

Lol, the same thought crossed my mind, hahaha. Sounds like someone already pulled that on him at one time. I don't want to be on that list. LOL

Once I get my molds made for the lenses, I will have Brand new sets for sale. ;) You know I'll have a set for ya bro.

BTW, Kane has some for sale here, http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=138315 a bit rich for me, but not a bad deal for someone wanting some for less than most sell for around here.

So superquest, about those pictures???

However, I have good news for you. They are very easy to duplicate. :D

If you doubt what I tell you, I encourage you to post this picture and question in the BS section and see what the results Net you.

LOL, I went and found the same pic and was about to post the same thing. Conquest style tails never came anywhere but the good ol u s of a.

But yeah, now that you know there's no rare ones, if you have a set of OEM lights, a heat gun and a tube of silicone caulk or something else to reseal them, you can have some for FREE!!! Or, you can send me your tails and pay me to do it.

Honestly though SuperQuest, your blue car is beautiful! And is something to be proud of. I do encourage you to send a set of tail lights down to Mark (Burton) and get him to smoke them out for you, like the ones I posted before, for your black car. I would love to see an SQ fully murdered out... every light blacked out and such. He also has tint skins for the marker lights and fog lights. Check it out man, he can get you where you need to be.

edit: he also has skins to match a Fiji...maybe something to consider for the blue car. He sent me some to model for him and they are badtail.

Hey SuperQuest, If you decide you like the "tinted" look as mentioned above, then you may also consider our LED Tail Light Conversion kit (can be found in the Vendor section):
