A noise from tranny

After u let go of the clutch

 

then it's there all the time ,, slow down and think about what your saying ,,now explain it so we know what you know

 

also is the noise a rattle , a squeak, a bang, a click or poping sound,, give us some thing we can use

With the e-brake on try to spin the driveshaft. If it rotates at all then the torque tube shaft is worn and causing a clunk in the driveline. That could be your noise problem. Edited by ucw458

My car does that, sometimes it clunks when you shift gears other times it doesn't. Glad to know what it is, thanks.

Here's a piggy-back to this question--once you drop the prop shaft, can you remove the torque tube from the rear end without dropping the diff from the car? Anything special to do to this to reinstall properly or just take the old/worn pieces out and put new ones in?

Yes. Just replace both sides of the worn coupling.

time to pull tourqe tube and check drive shaft ujoints and tube yoke

 

I took ur advice Shelby we lift the car from the back to the two wheels in the air rent the car like it was driving on the streets and yes it was the u joints but were bad n thanks to all for help
