sdrt
Better start a build thread. Little background, I had been looking for a widebody for about 2 years. I came across this one on craigslist. I agreed to buy the car and drive 10 hrs to get it and then the guy backed out and sold it to another guy closer to him. 3 weeks later the car came up again on craigslist and I bought it. Apparently the kid that bought it got his girfriend pregnant and his dad made him sell it. Car is starting to move along. It's an 89 Conquest TSi Fiji blue, 5 speed. I bought it with some front end damage. The guys said it was backed in to. I have found out that is was not the case unless it was backed in to by a semi. I took the passenger fender off and the inner wheelhouse and bracing is pretty messed up, along with the radiator support. I found a technica for a parts car unless I can find another widebody for parts. I would hate to tear the technica up. Here we go. Pics from craigslist. http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/3G53I83N15I45L65Fed4g1b265cfb5a921963_zps6d9b905e.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/3Gb3Fa3N25I85G85Had4ga6ba6ed8052f1b42_zpscc942913.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/Capture_zpsabf748ed.png Bringing her home http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130429_132134_zps3e61ab73.jpeghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130429_163035_zpse829919a.jpeg
sdrt
Cleaned it up today. The car's interior smelled like an old basement. I found out why. The back of the front seats were growing some sort of mold on them. The car must have been in a garage for a long time I assume? I found some mold killer and sprayed down the whole interior. Other than that everything in the interior works excepr for the drivers auto seatbelt. I do need to find the correct shift boot and knob if someone knows of some. http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_173145_zps0c08d8bc.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_175018_zps885a4d79.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_175031_zpsba4344c9.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_183741_zps525a8a82.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_183746_zps612276a9.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_183800_zpsb9168eef.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_183812_zps7669cdf8.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_184920_zps2e11b324.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130505_185031_zpsbd15ade2.jpg

The engine bay on the fiji is a mess. Also the car burns oil on start up pretty bad. Not sure if its the turbo or valves or rings. I am goin to do a compression leak down test on tuesday. The window covers are in great shape but I don't believe that I am going to use them. I have all the brackets and screws. No leuvers are bent and they are all metal Rotors, struts, exhaust, and ratiator are bad that I know of. More to come.

dmyers151
Don't stress on that sunroof trim, it's just for show. The sunroof seals from inside and has overflow drains. You can remove it completely and clean up the residue with a brillo pad. That shift knob is the original style, just the wrong color. sdrt
Put the car up on stands today to take a look underneath and at the damage behind the passenger fender. As suspected the car is fairly messed up in that corner. No frame damage that I can see just the radiator support and inner fender support. The car has one security lug nut on the back wheel so I need to still get that off. I reconditioned the leather seats and interior. Now its not so rough inside. http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130507_195717_zps8dd1ba6e.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130507_201802_zpsb8714dc3.jpghttp://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130507_201811_zps8d9dd0d5.jpg[/url Stock shocks and struts still on the car. http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag38/sdrt2002/20130507_201851_zpsbf42e6cd.jpg
dmyers151
A decent frame shop should have no problem straightening that out, probably cost $200.

SeanTheConquistador
Hey I know this is off topic but there are two vaccine lines that look like they run Into the dash, I can't find where the one on the right hooks at. I see yours has them also. Any idea? Also great car, I really like the blue.

TexasQuest
I had the same idea for wheels (black & blue) when I first got my Fiji car.
sdrt
Finally got this back in the shop to get ready for tear down but I have a few questions for the more knowledgeable around here. I have a video of the car running so people can hear the nasty miss the car has and see the engine bay. Can anyone tell me if there is anything missing from the bay or not? I don't have another car to compare to. I am reading the manuals though so I'm hoping that will give me some good insight. Also, what do you think is causing such a bad miss? I have checked these items so far: - Replaced plugs, wires , cap and rotor.- Checked the timing- Checked all vacuum lines, and I believe they are now in order, but I may be wrong. - Sprayed some starting fluid on the TB while the car was running. No change in idle. - Compression about 115 to 120 on all 4. The car burns oil like a MOFO when in boost. I rebuilt the turbo, same problem. This leads me to believe its valve seals? Some next steps would be great. http://s1297.photobucket.com/user/sdrt2002/media/20130621_185714_zps3e48b8e6.mp4.html
sdrt
Back to work! Pulled the motor and tranny to clean up the bay, find leaks, and replace the valve seals. http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140502_190311_zps89e76a90.jpeghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140502_193330_zps582d693b.jpeghttp://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/20140502_193324_zps6d9fbbc6.jpeg After pulling the motor apart I found that someone has previously done some work. There is a newer oil pump and water pump and also the balance shaft has been deleted. I did also notice that the timing looks to be off by 2 links. I'm guessing that's why the car had such a bad miss. I'm hoping to replace the gaskets, valve seals included and button it back up soon. http://i1071.photobucket.com/albums/u517/pwrwgn77/IMG957103_zpsc3b03ddc.jpg

jdh0637
Been a while since posted but you can hammer on 18mm sockets on lock lugs to get off obviously the socket will be wasted
sdrt
I see ya getting it together, how difficult was it to pull motor and tranny as one unit? Randy, nice to hear from you again. I had an extra set of hands but it came out super smooth after I pulled the radiator. There is plenty of room to wiggle it out as one unit. As for plans for the car I am a big supporter/sponsor of our local drift scene here, SDDRIFT. I originally purchased the car to bomb around and drift in but now that I'm tearing it down this far I'm going to do a mild resto on it. I'm still going to drift the car but it will also be a daily if all plans go right. But as we all know, that's a big if.
