redzedturbo Posted March 26, 2013 Report Share Posted March 26, 2013 Okay still fighting with my brothers (doctor_drift) 86 quest any one know why the oem boost gauge goes to like 14 psi at idle but if i give it a rev it reads right for a few mins. is there a sensor or something that needs replaced or worse? TexasQuest Posted March 26, 2013 Report Share Posted March 26, 2013 The factory boost gauge is connected to the ecu I believe. They are known to be inacurate and sometimes problematic. StarquestRescue Posted March 26, 2013 Report Share Posted March 26, 2013 He has an 86. They use a map sensor on the fire wall by the brake booster. It could be the sensor or the gauge. The sensor has two out puts. One for the ecu and one for the gauge. Time to get a volt meter out and see what signal is getting to the ecu.
