BOHO
302 would be cheaper, easier if your only looking for 250-350hp
NW TSI
Thanks for your opinion. Do you know if it's been done? I think they are a great motor, never had any problems with our c4 and its fast as poop. A much cheaper option than the LS1 with great potential.Ya, its slightly heavier, OH WELL lol. BOHO
There are several carbed iron block sbc's but no LT's that I can think of off hand. Convette has LS1 if you don't know so he is bias...haha But I feel the same way...takes more work/money then results...but its definately doable if its what you want.

Convette
Man you can get a 5.3 engine for 500 it doesn't get much cheaper. It will take much more abuse than a lt and much more options for power.
NW TSI
I found an LT1 for $350, Im on a TIGHT budget (I'm 16), I don't need anymore power than a stock Lt1. Ill keep the vortec in mind though...

NW TSI
Maybe the six speed from the c4 corvette? I can't remember the name off the top of my head. My dad's 95 6 speed vette is not a t56.

NW TSI
I have been researching a lot cause I still wanted to use a T5, but I believe the T56 is the only one that bolts up, so I'm just gonna have to pony up the bucks, which will take me awhile...but it'll be worth it
