jimmy24
Would I be able to use this head or would I have to replace the valve train first?
Skullzaflare
depends, if your taking the turbo off, slap the head on, if you wanna run the turbo, you have to change the valves (unless you wanna pull the head off again later)

Starfighterpilot
Unless this D-50 head came off of a recently running truck engine, I'd replace the valve seals and valves, at a minimum, before I installed it. If it was me, I'd have the head checked for flatness & cracks, and verify that the valve guide clearance to the new valve stems meets the requirements as noted in the Starquest FSM. You may have a problem wih the valve cover PCV valve chamber interference fit clearance - which is easily remedied. For What It's Worth.
