HANZ
was going over alot of the service manuals, and i was woundering if there were torque specs on these manifolds? if not im assuming that you tighten from the middle and go out wards
Komeuppance
Yes, in the FSM there is the torque spec of 11-14ft lbs. It doesn't list a torque sequence but inside out will be the best way. A good tip that Indiana recommends is to have the exhaust manifold planed/machined flat. They warp over time and will pull the #4 studs out. -Robert
Indiana
Psst, the intake manifold can warp too and it has to seal coolant at both ends. Why you think Felpro puts that thick gasket in their kits?. OEM intake gasket is thin. It they aren't too bad, you can use a small table type belt sander to smooth out surfaces. The throttlebody surfaces and thermostat housing you can clean up. None of those are as good as they were when new so clean and flatten them to get a better seal without so much paper and thick sealant needed. You can just lay sandpaper on a flat table and slide the part across it over and over too you don't have to get a power tool to do this. Most gaskets other than around the cooling passages had no sealant when assembled at the factory. You won't get it as good as is was when it was milled but its better than rough corroded 25 year old surfaces. Look close and the surface on the intake where you expect the throttlebody base plate to seal. Those are thin paper gaskets and those surfaces have to seal in boost pressure and the surfaces above those with the oring seal boost and coolant -and FUEL. http://www.b2600turbo.com/BE1/IM002572.JPG Edited February 18, 2012 by Indiana

Shelby
most important tip is DO NOT use a 1/2 " drive tourqe wrench ,,11 to 14 lbs is just a good snug with a 3/8" wratchet or wrench
