Leeintheconquest
I would like some opions on what to use for trany fluid. The manual says hypoid gear oil wich is the same as what is called for in the rear diff. Of course the rear diff needs a friction modifier also. I would change out my trany fluid as it is I'm sure quite old. I have done the diff already. So, is the trany fluid the same as the diff or is there something better? If it is the same, I was thinking of using Mobil 1 and then after a bit, switching to Royal Purple.... Suggentsions welcome and appreciated. Indiana
Go get some $5/quart 90w. You need all the cushion you can get on a tranny with old worn bearings in it.
leesfer
I use the same gear oil in both my tranny and diff... I just changed both fluids this past weekend with Lucas 85-90w
Indiana
The differential requires a friction modifier if the oil you used doesn't already specify its in there, like "for LSD applications". You can get it in a little bottle and add it afterward.
