It doesn't. the front pully has a thin rubber isolater on the water pump/alternator (middle groove), but the PS and AC are solid pullies with no dampening at all. the front pully is a pulley, not a dampener. In 83 they didn't even have that thin rubber isolator on the middle groove, just a solid chunk of metal. these were a tad over $200 when they first came out, good deal here.
