why you might ask? well i'm swapping my g52b pan & oil pickup onto my g54b, and find that the oil pickup tube bolt pattern is different between the two

i'd like to see a pic to see if i can use a g54b pickup tube or if i need to splice the two tubes

thx!

^ very helpful thx!

looks like your version has alternate oil pickup boltup location

(funny the oil pans look identical)

here's a pic of my narrowblock 54. any ideas what these three 6mm holes are used for?

Those other holes are where some of the parts of the internal oil separator for crankcase pressure is mounted on the diesel version. There's a vacuum pump built on to the back side of the alternator and its a dirty pump meaning it doesn't matter if it gets oily. That alternator is expensive.

Your oil pan looks the same but its not. Your 2.0 motor used a pickup tube bolted to the middle and a different oil pump and its also different from a FWD pickup tube and oil pan. The pump you'll use now has the same specs but its backing plate is open to the passage in the block that's covered by the "turbo" pump. The pan has a different angle on the bottom and the tube aims to a slightly differernt place in the sump. You are looking for an 83 pickup tube and pan I suppose, or since you have that pan and tube all you need is the cheap pump. What are you doing exactly?

Here's a new pump and while you're at it, he has a timing kit with bsek in it too, 50.00 for both

Hardly anything will. That 2.0 used the thin case lower volume pump but all you have to do is change the pump. They both used the same timing components. You wanting to use this for a turbo application? Is it a turbo shortblock or n/a?

n/a

it's a narrowblock with the small 5spd

i've heard the narrowblock 5spds are strong for their size

but haven't actually heard they're suitable for turbo engines
