polarisman14
Update, got halfway through the mock-up for the wiring. The initial install I'm just checking to see if it works so if the wiring is a bit of a rats nest it isn't a big deal as long as its all connected correctly. I will be finishing it up on Friday weather permitting and trying to start it. if it works then I'm taking it back out and organizing it before doing the final install--no sense in taking a bunch of time to put it in neatly if it isn't gonna work anyway. NotStock88
i just dont understand what is so complicated here? Its pretty straight forward how this is hooked up. Didnt you send your controller and harness to scott for testing?
polarisman14
Yeah absolutely. Everything is tested and ready to go. I just haven't had time because I don't get home until 5:30 and have a puppy to take care of, wood pile to stack, and a bunch of other crap to do around the house. Finding even a half hour to work on the car is hard. I just have to do a little more wire stripping and crimping in-car and I have to run the fuel pump power wire. Now that the MSD box and tach adapter are all wired up in there and the OEM harness is 100% out of the picture it makes the wiring a little less straightforward but still really easy. All I still have to hook up is several grounds, a couple 12v hot leads, a couple 12v switched leads, the battery and computer. Maybe an hour total most of which will be struggling with the battery and tray lol. Edited September 28, 2011 by polarisman14
polarisman14
Car still doesn't run, but we do have an RPM signal. Getting there.
polarisman14
And finally the car does run. It's choppy and the idle is a bit erratic at times but it is a definite start and further tuning should smooth things out.Good thing too, I was losing hope! NotStock88
good to hear, what was the problem then?
psu_Crash
Good deal! Take your time and get idle straightened out then the rest isn't so bad
polarisman14
Problem ended up being wrong firing order (this time). I had it all hooked up and was getting fuel and had spark at the individual cylinders, made me go "wt...."...then I took the cap off and looked at the firing order and figured out I had effed it up. Idles relatively smooth but still needs some fine tuning, in the 700-800rpm range I think, a little lopey, 12 inches of vacuum, 12.5:1 AFR. Car can finally move under its own power which means it's getting painted this winter!

jjohnson
It’s too bad I can’t see any of the pictures in this thread. I’m getting to the point of making my own harness . it ran before I rebuilt the engine , now no spark.
