88CorpusStarion
1988 Starion: When the tranny shifts to 2nd gear it just is not there. If you get out of the gas it will shift into 3rd and OD. Is this a common problem with the trans and is it expensive to fix. Thinking of converting to manual if it is too expensive. Can do the work myself, been a mechanic for 25 years just not a tranny guy. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
Alan
Get in the FSM first. I would drop the oil pan and do a band adjustment first. If you have been wrenching 25 yrs you could have the trans pulled in a couple hours and rebuild youself. I never did an auto before either. I pulled and rebulit mine for less tham $350 and I needed some hard parts.

The Rabbit1
sounds like the band might just be worn out, the drums sometimes get worn out also. or it could simple by the 2nd gear clutch pack.
