Earl
Finally got around to taking a few pics of the headliner that I put together=) Otherwise I'm just waiting on my hubcentric rings and drop plates. Then to figure out how I'm going to stance it without running tires up into the fenders...lol http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz230/earlcharlesmeyeriii/IMAG0078.jpghttp://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz230/earlcharlesmeyeriii/IMAG0079.jpg
Earl
So last night my hubcentric rings came and I couldn't wait anymore to mount my wheels. I went to Midas to have the front end aligned first, but to my discovery the outer tierod on the passenger side was completely rounded and the past 30 years have made it non-adjustable. So I ordered a new inner and outer for that side and just threw the rims onanyways because the tie rod comes in today and I can throw it in and then get an alignment.Definately needs more low in the back (machinist at work is in the works with my 3" drop plates still) and it needs at least lowering springs in the front. If you find acheap set of MK1 Volkswagen lowering springs or coilovers for a good price, let me know. http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz230/earlcharlesmeyeriii/IMAG0098.jpg
Bag-O-Chips
Holy poke Earl! lol
Earl
oh yeah=P It has settled down a lot somehow after mounting them, so the front sits about an inch and a half to two inches off of the tire. The rear just needs the drop plates for sure and possibly take the helper leafs off of the leaf springs. It looks real good in person, pics don't do justice. Come up Chips and you can help me throw in the passenger floorboard=~) lol
Bag-O-Chips
lemme guess, you've got a watermelon sized hole in the floor?

Earl
you gotta see this thing in person=) she sits low on the fronts now, and the drop plates go on the rear next week. It looks pretty mean

Earl
of what tech? lol Edit: The center console was blue and all chipped up and full of farm gunk (that yellowish brown dust). I washed it and then sanded the chips and then scuffed it. Then I evenly coated the whole piece with flat black and it looks like brand new black plastic=) Edited May 6, 2011 by Earl

Earl
^Really? Thanks Nomad, that means a lot coming from you I actually got the MK2 GTI seatbelts in last night and it feels great to actually buckle up now without having to tie it around my brake handle...lolFor the past two days I've been meaning to drop the oil pan and change the gasket and put 4 fresh Quarts of the caramel stuff in, along with changing out the drivers sidecv axle, and installing the MK1 K Bar that I aquired.Hopefully I can do all of that tonight, aswell as change the intake manifold gasket and strip the ratty black paint off of the intake. The drop plates will hopefully be finally done at work today and those I can put on aswell, or do tomorrow. I have been trying tocram and get all of this done due to a big meet on Saturday. It'scalled Scooters GTG and last year there were around 175 cars andover 300 people. You can look it up on google and it should popright up. I wish I had the SQ done=( But this will suffice for now. Plus it's largely a VW meet anyways
on4now4
I don't think I'll ever get into digital photography. Film is where it's at for quality.digital is just as good these days but probably more expansive to do the same thing. i defiantly prefer digital just for the convenience factor. Earl
I prefer film just for the vintage factor and it is more fun to take pictures for me=) Digital just seems too simple.

nomad
^Really? Thanks Nomad, that means a lot coming from you Yeah man, really do. Its a cool ride and I like what you are doing with it. Your doing it the way you want it and it looks proper. Nothing over the top or redicilous. I like stuff that is well thought out and excuted. And your are doing this stuff pretty quick, not sitting around on your butt. Good Job man! I do have one request, when it warms up can we get a pic of Gnar Gnar the turtle riding shotgun? Earl
we can definately get a pic of my tortoise riding shotgun=)And I got my 3" drop plates on and it's sitting good for nowI went to Scooters GTG on Saturday and should be able to stealsome pics off there=POtherwise here is how the turnout was: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5179654-3rd-Annual-Scooter-s-GTG-May-14th-2011-Milwaukee-WI
Earl
and now no work today=( Fuel pump took a dump and I have no other way of getting to work. So now I have to find if the pump is dead or if the connection is shot. But on a lighter note, here is a picof how she sits with the drop plates=~) Sorry for the crappy cell quality http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz230/earlcharlesmeyeriii/IMAG0126.jpg She sits a lot better on the other side, so I have to figure out how to make this sides leaf spring sag andthen coils on the front=) Edited May 19, 2011 by Earl
