well here is the dumb question have you traced the wires and used a meter for continuity ?

or even if they are getting power. connections clean not corroded?

I haven't tested every wire. But I know they have power at the motors and at the switch. If I crank them down then hit the switch they turn on and come right up. Just never go down obviously Lol.

Lol... just busting your chops Dylan. I'm sure you'd enjoy be able to use your headlights like a normal person lol.

Have you checked the pop up relay, in the center of the dash behind the stereo area, have to drop your glove box to get to it.

  • 1 month later...

I just read this thread and I recently thoroughly went over the wiring for the pop ups. The manual actually states that if both head lights don't go down to check the passer relay. This is the relay Robert mentioned behind the radio area.

A test that uses the passer relay is this:

1. Make sure all switches are off to not make the pop ups go up.

2. Manually put the headlights down.

3. With the headlights down, pull your turn signal lever towards you to turn on your brights. This should make the headlights go up and then after 3 seconds of releasing the lever, go back down.

I am curious if at #3 your headlights would even go up.

Thanks Cold Scrip. This actually confirms that my passing relay is bad because I was driving one time and my headlights were cranked down and someone was trying to pull into my lane so I went to flash them with my high beams and my lights went up.

So they did go up? Did they go back down? I would consider that normal then. Its just one of the functions of the passing relay. It could still be bad and it certainly fits your symptoms. It is responsible for lowering the headlights in all situations and is only responsible for bringing them up when using your turn signal lever.

IIRC...
