86 starion 2.6 engine cranks but no start. There is no spark or injection pulse. Have all powers & grounds for the distrubutor & ecu. There is power to the injectors. but the ecu is not grounding the injectors. I have changed the distributor, ecu & ignighter. I can't see any other sensors that would conflict with pulse & spark. Does anyone have any ideas?

starter sucks and or hear me out you might have to check your cap and rotor and make sure the rotor is hitting the cap contacts this is assuming that the engine cranks over at least once or twice. Check the starter first make sure its grounded.

sometimes you have to pull the rotor off of the dizzy and just scrape the contact on the concrete or sand it a bit just lightly to make sure it makes good contact. Check the cap itself as well. This might actually be the solution ive seen it happen before.

What ignitor have you changed? Is it the black one one the driver's inner fender labelled "knock box"? It's the ignitor on the pre 88 cars, and they're prone to failure. Rap on it a bit with the head of a screwdriver and see if that changes anything. Edited by vbrad511

You have to forget about the injectors for now and concentrate on the lack of spark. When the ECU sees spark it will fire the injectors.

Go here, look at page 29 for troubleshooting a car that cranks but does not fire. More specific tests for the ignition system start on page 165 and will give you proper resistances for the ignition pick up and coil.

The distributor gives the ignitor a VR signal to indicate engine speed, the ignitor processes that controls the coil to fire at the correct timing. The coil firing tells the ECU the car is running or trying to run so it will power the fuel pump and ground the injectors.

My semi-educated guess is another bad ignitor, mostly since its very common and they are all very old. You can rule out the ignition pickup and coil being problems using the resistance tests, once you do that you know its a bad ignitor.
