Need help tuning with megasquirt

To have your ECU control boost you'll need a boost control solenoid and the additional circuit to operate it. I have added that feature to the FC-1S several times but I can't tell you how to add it to your board unless I had it in my shop. Check the units on your overboost protection, are they in psi or KPa? Mine are in KPa and a good value for that is 200-250 (the MAP tops out at 250 so no sense going beyond that). If your units are in psi then 15-20 is good. Of course, unless you modify your waste gate somehow you'll just be boosting stock levels, assuming you have a waste gate.

Ok it is in PSI for me. I dont know why I was thinking it was KPa.

Here are pics of my wastegate.

Doesn't appear to be connected to a pressure source, that's what opens it. If it doesn't open then you have unlimited boost which isn't as good as it sounds.

Thats what I thought.

I know I dont want unlimited boost.....not good

The wastegate is connected (on the back side) to the compressor housing. I am not sure if it has to have BOTH lines connected to function at all but it may not be functioning properly.

Now I really need a boost gauge.

If its connected to the compressor housing then there is a good chance it's correct but you do need to verify that somehow before the pedal hits the metal.

Hmm... watch this video. If you want to skip to the part that pertains to this wastegate issue. Look at 6:06.

BUMP-

Any updates on this, im interested to see where it went.

Kind of using this as my own little crash course for tuning.

Hang in there. Im away at college right now. I was going to get the car tuned (dyno + professional tune) the week I was leaving. The guy at the shop said he could do it at certain hours monday through wednesday. I just had to get an exhaust leak fixed. Got it fixed and then when I tried to schedule the appointment he said he could only do it saturday. The saturday I was leaving for college

On top of that I just had some problems with the car overheating, coolant boiling over, exhaust leaks, me getting carbon monoxide poisoning, more exhaust leaks, slave cylinder problems, and about a dozen other things. I have to get those issues fixed, make sure I dont have a cracked header or a cracked head OR a blown head gasket, then I have to scrounge up some money to get it tuned. College plus building this car is mixes like oil and water....... Im soo anxious to drive this car tuned!

Where are you at on yours?

Well im not sure if youve seen my thread on here just goon my profile and you can check it out,

but as for right now im still trying to get my computer communicating with the controller, just trying to get a good base tune because the tune on it is making it nearly impossible to start the car, plus I have to get my timing control figured out. Im probably going to send my controller out to scott and get the update for that.
