bha280
I recently got some front and rear Tokikos and some Cosmo coilovers and Mookeh camber plates. Reading through some old posts I saw people had cut off the spring perches to clean things up, liked the idea, and went ahead and did it. In the front I still have some adjustability up and down, but on the rears it is too low even with the coilovers all the way up. What I am wondering is if I take my rear struts to a welder and have him put a bead up about an inch from the perch weld, do you think it will cause any damage to the internals of the struts? I already put the old struts back in just for drivability. Thanks.
scott87star
Sounds odd, got any pictures? I don't think you'll find a welder that would weld on struts, at least a capable one. An empty housing yes but not a sealed unit. Edited March 19, 2013 by scott87star
bha280
I'll try and get some when i get home. I didn't think it would be possible, but worth asking.
patra_is_here
yo brandon, sounds like a weird issue. IF the struts are NOT able to be disassembled, you could have a welder fabricate a slip-over-sleeve from thick wall tubing. It would have to be welded to the base/mounting flange. and the brake hose mounts would have to be welded to the sleeve, as would the proper height perch. depending on your time and budget, you could do some of the work yourself, or I can make the sleeve for you if you pay for parts and shipping, I'll weld them for free, and you can just have the welder weld it to the base.
