mrvwbug
I have some A/C on my 85.5 flatty. First this is what I know: It's got freon in it and it appears to be good. I had it check out. Next the compressor clutch moves freely. The fuse is O.K. as well. Is there some other high\low switches which can go out? I don't know alot about these units and could use some help in this area. Thanks as always... Cheers, Slim Jim Edited May 22, 2011 by mrvwbug
MikeMeyerhoff
I don't know exactly what you are asking. But, when Max and Tim helped me get the AC on my 84 working, we found a blown fuse that was the problem. It was hidden away near the glove box and not part of the fuse panel. Thanks Mike...I'll double check and the connections by the header panel is what "Indiana" told me. Cheers, Slim Jim
jonboyb
Have you jumpered the compressor to ensure it blows cold to start with???? If yes and it blows cold then start tracing....high pressure switch, low pressure switch, etc. But make sure you can get cold air before pulling you hair out tracing electrical. Not yet, how do you jumper it? It did blow cold air when I first got it about 18 months ago. I'm going to check the contacts on those pressure switches tomorrow to start with. Please get back to be on how to jumper it, for I don't have any extra hair to pull it. Thanks Jon! Slim Jim Edited May 30, 2011 by mrvwbug
scotty
with a/c on and motor running using a balled up fist slam the relay tree near the battery one to 2 good hard raps downward , if the compressor comes on then its the relay that does the compressor. also ground the wire going to the top single wire sensor on the thermostat housing/neck if that makes it come on then the switch is defecto .
