Cam sensor?

For sequential injection, yes. For batch fire, no.

 

Sequential is really only necessary when your trying to get every last little bit of power out of your motor. You should be more than fine with batch fire.

 

Running EDIS does not require you to have a cam angle sensor or signal.

sweet thanks, i have a guy pretty familiar with megasquirt here local to me, and i have been talking to him, he was asking me, i guess sequential would be something to do later, once you get everything smoothed out and running then want to squeeze a little more out of it..

No problem dude. I've been all my research incognito, somehow or another, I think it's sticking, haha.

 

I've been tinkering with modding a stock distributor stalk to work with a 1g DSM cam angle sensor. I just need to get my hands on a small lathe and mill and it should be cake.

You can run an optical dizzy from a 2.4L Mighty Max or maybe it was a D50 to get sequential working. Bolts right in where the stock dizzy went with a small spacer and it is effectively a cam angle sensor. I plan to go that route this winter and ditch EDIS. I just don't like how little room I have with EDIS and the *DM radiator. Plus then I can run direct coil control and make use of launch control and ignition rev limiting. I have a link to a topic about it on my laptop. John (starquestrescue) showed it to me. I'll have to dig it up later on.

I thought the guys running EDIS get a cam signal from modding the distributor? Wait, no, that was with a magna distributor.

 

 

 

yeah ill be running the EDIS, and i guess ill use batch fire? im not sure what any of this means but i guess ill learn it..

dude, thats some seriously good info. i wish i had known that a while back, the cas in my mm pickup went bad and i bout a new one to the tune of like 250ish. i couldnt find a truck in a junkyard anywhere that still had one in it. and i didnt realize it was what was needed to run sequential.

i got the dizzy idea from ChrisVipers post.

in this picture you can see the difference between the mighty max and the stock starquest hole.

this is the hole the post goes through to tighten it in place. the quest i farther out from center.

the spacer i made can allow me to basically put the dizzy in any 360 degree position i want.

pin 24 of the db37 harness, is the pip wire. or the tach signal input. its already ran in shielded wire from diy. other than that, i might would recomend using shielded wire to go from the vr sensor to the edis module. if you have a length of wire/pigtail with the edis sensor you will notice one side of it was shielded and the other was not. this should be fine. just to be on the safe side, use shielded wire for the saw and pip wires as well as to the vr sensor. none of the other sesnors seem to be of any concern as far as noise.
