vbrad511
I know this belongs in the Digital threads but I'm hoping for a quick reply. I've just formatted a 640gb drive and my computer reads it as 124gb. I've used a free partition program before to expand it, but that program's long gone. Anybody have any free fav's they use that are easy to use?

vbrad511
WD didn't offer any resizing software, that I could ID. I got a referral for EaseUS from a buddy before, found a dl link on Cnet, worked like a charm, easy too. Thanks though....
Dred_85.5_TSI
Hmm, I'm interested too as I have the same problem with a WD 640GB. Question:Are you running XP? Edited December 30, 2011 by Dred_85.5_TSI
vbrad511
Mine a WD 640 also. I used the top result here... http://www.cnet.com/1770-5_1-0.html?query=partition&tag=srch I'm on XP Pro, and this program worked well and was very fast and easy. I moved my 640 out to a 590, leaving a little room for future defragging,

SidewaySStarion
Is this hard drive IDE? Sounds like your motherboard is old enough to have the 48bit lba limit which limits you at 137gb which formatted sounds about right for your partition size. http://www.48bitlba.com/ Edited December 31, 2011 by SidewaySStarion

Get a free linux distrubition like Mint or Ubuntu from distrowatch.com and burn the image on a CD. Boot off the CD and use the drive tools, you may have to begin an installation but don't worry, the drive tools are the first thing to come up and you can quit after that. The partition management is everything you will want.
natallica
Perhaps when the drive was formatted, it's formatted FAT32 or exFAT... Shouldn't it be formatted for NTFS for a 32 bit XP machine? I read there are GB limitations with different file formats...at least this is true for high GB flash media. Just a thought -N8
