nfelge
Hey SQC, I don't know about you guys, but my fiberglass heat shield is old. With old age comes fraying edges, and falling apart, and another eyes-sore under the hood. See it falling apart at the bottom right of the hood?http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac302/nfelge/1988%20Chrysler%20Conquest/P1120665.jpghttp://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac302/nfelge/1988%20Chrysler%20Conquest/P1060281.jpg My solution was aluminum-metal-type tape. Simply tape around the edges and over any rips/tears/holes, like so:http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac302/nfelge/1988%20Chrysler%20Conquest/P1060280.jpghttp://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac302/nfelge/1988%20Chrysler%20Conquest/P1060287.jpghttp://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac302/nfelge/1988%20Chrysler%20Conquest/P1060289.jpg The final product was totally worth the irritated fingers! (from fiberglass/metal)http://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac302/nfelge/1988%20Chrysler%20Conquest/P1060284.jpghttp://i910.photobucket.com/albums/ac302/nfelge/1988%20Chrysler%20Conquest/P1060292.jpg A million times better looking! Well, just thought I'd share it with you guys, since I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Shielding heat in style! Oh, and I'm pretty sure with all the chrome this adds about 5hp -Nick Edited September 17, 2012 by nfelge

Burton
Another thing you can do, and I think it looks a little cleaner than most of the hood being coverd by the insulation blanket... Trim around the hard aluminum shiled above the turbo, and remove everything else. You can even polish up that hard shield to give it a polished aluminum look if you are feeling blingy. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/blu1.JPG
nfelge
40.00 bux new. That's good to know, but this thread is for repairing, not replacement. it's $40.00 (+shipping) new, or $0 (in my case, I found the tape) to repair. RF600
I tried that same tape. It didn't hold up very well. The tape started peeling. Hopefully your will fair better than mine.
